I'll be having breakfast with the Dukes Saturday. I don't live close enough to attend regularly. I'll let them know everybody on the HAMB thinks they (we) are all old, beer belly, gold chain, white shoes, rich, bald, Coors guzzling, guys. They will love it.

The goldchainer stuff is so ten years ago. The gap between "them" and "us" is as narrow as it has ever been, but people still whine. Everyone with any self respect will continue to improve what they build and drive. THAT is the real history of hot rodding. I talk to guys "who were there back in the day" every weekend, some have become "goldchainers" others have not, all of them talk about wanting increasingly better cars regardless of what station they are.

This is extremely obvious if you pay any attention at all. Most of the top builders are building "traditional" cars that are extremely finished. Like it or not that is what most every hot rodder back when strived for. None of them set out to build a rusty pile of shit. They all built the best possible ride they could afford. Some could only afford a rusty pile of shit.

There are a LOT of Danville Dukes who have been there since day one of hot rodding. If they have done it or are doing it, it IS hot rod history.

    Sorry, just had to vent.

Well Look at at any Hot Rod Magazine from the 50's and 60's and I promise you that you wont see "Rat Rods" thats for sure.

  20. Yeah, and once again..a rat is an animal, has nothing to do with cars ;)

  21. KIrk what vent?? thats the closest truth thats been stated here, hell its always been about steppin up the game on the cars.......Ive been doing this for about 35 years and even the guys I knew/know that still own the same car they did 30+ years ago have done something to update them either in looks or power/safety........One of my favorite things about going to GG pleasenton is their event along with it

All in good fun. I'd first have to explain to most of them what the HAMB is.
Remember in the late '60s '70s and early '80 if you ever saw a hot rod on the street in the Bay Area (which would be the equivalent of seeing a flying saucer) it was probably one of these guys.

Nope. The guy with the nicest car got all the chicks. Today's "rat rods" (and I mean rat rods, not hot rods regardless of level of finish) would have been laughed out of town. Today you see these '50s hookers spread eagle on piles of shit (yeah you OSR), show me that happening fifty years ago.
