Crustz, this line taken from your post on page two, should be a signature.

"I didn't make the rules, they've been around long before me"

It's obvious you know what you are doing.

Man I really like the looks of that! I think that Ford would have sold a shit load of them looking that way.

Really flows nice. I like how it is a "mild chop" also.
The 38 standard grill is a favorite of mine.
    Nice eye and skills.

DirtT: Look at the last posted side shot. Zephyr is exactly what comes to mind!

    Grille is paramount. 'Baby Zephyr'...

Took this pic when I was trying to establish new roof height while I built and leaned back the windshield surround.. This moment might have scared a smarter person. View attachment 2948769 ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1436557823.502289.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1436557808.965344.jpg

  11. Somewhere 15-18 years ago Al Swedberg in Centralia was doing a '37 as a 3 window for a client. For the life of me I can't find a pic. It was gorgeous, but then, Al has an eye and the talent to back it up. This was about the time that the glass '37 3 windows came on the market with the hideously bad loft on the rear roof line and corresponding door frame. You sir, have the roof line done well from what we can see in these pics. Having owned a '36 3 window also, like Gotgas and Tony I am not offended by the upper door frame line you've shown so far.........it looks very much like Ford might have done. That being said, most '36s that are chopped do reshape that contour to compliment the revised roof line. With your eye I suspect whatever your choice it should work well. Looking forward to seeing this car live......

This car is fucking awsome mate ! Well done so far.

  17. Thanks for checking Rusty, but no..........the one Al did ended up looking more like a conventionally chopped '36 line rather than the hardtop style there. That one is interesting though........

  18. back in the early 2000s Johnson's rod shop built a '37 Ford 3w with a Zephyr roof, it looked pretty good was featured in Street Rodder.

Hey, Jimmy. There was a '37 coupe entered in the car show in San Antonio, TX. sometime in early/mid 2000's that had a Zephyr top. It was going for top honors until one of the judges noticed the engine sitting a few inches off center. The owner and his wife were some kind of pissed when another car took the blue ribbon. They declared that they had over 300K invested, and that the winner had much less, but they still lost. It WAS a beautiful coupe, but the freaking engine was crooked.

Somehow I'm still happier for the guy who won with the "cheap" car! With 300 grand, I could have enough cars to put on my OWN car show!

Wow. How did i miss this. I would never have thought of doing this, and my skills would prevent it. But I gotta say it's absolutely bitchin.

After the awards, I was standing near this '37 LOSER with several other rodders while the owner and his wife were crying in their beer. From somewhere, we suddenly heard this muffled voice say, "Now you can drive the fuckin' thing." That, to me, was poetic justice. All that investment, but the arrogant asshole STILL lost. Hell, yes.

  29. I like the balanced side profile, looks neat and proportional front to back. Call me greedy, but have you ever considered maybe lowering roofline another 2"?
Note: that's not to suggest it needs it, just seeing the side profile makes me dream a little.
    Cheers,
    Drewfus
