    Sacramento Ca. show 2017.
Asking those who know more about 1915-11925 T bodies. Were their more that two cowl designs between those dates. This looks like a steeper angle than a '25 but as not as steep as a 15. Maybe it's just me.

Here's my '24. It's a little hard to compare the bare metal cowl with the glossy black one, but they look the same to me.

I understood that '23-'25 are the same, but I don't know about the earlier years.

We assembled it at the Portland Roadster Show back in 2001. The 2nd shot shows some of the parts. Roadster Show 1.jpg 2013-06-23 220049.jpg

  15. Gary -- Just two cowl designs. The '15 - '23 Fords were "low radiator" cars; '24's and '25's were "high radiator." The radiators, rad. shells, hoods, firewalls, and cowls were taller on the later ones, and their firewalls (and hoods) were also wider. The '15 - '22's had the small turtle shown in your post of the bare metal body; the '23's thru '25's had the larger turtle shown in the pic of the yellow #5 car. That is a "high radiator" car. You can see that the cowl doesn't have as much "swoop" as the earlier ones. The '23's were a combination of both earlier and later bodies, having the low radiator/hood/firewall of the earlier ones, but with the larger turtle and slanted windshield of the later ones.

Not a Track-T but it's one I built in 2009 mostly from scratch. Sure do miss it.

Thanks Mike That's what I always thought. I guess it is in the camera angle on some pictures. Ivo calls his first roadster a 25. I actually corrected him when he said it and said I thought it was a 22 or early. I guess he and others aren't as anal as I about details like that. Again in some photos Tom's roadster looks like the early cowl and other pictures the firewall looks bigger as in the '23-'25.

  20. Gary -- It is sometimes difficult to tell from pics whether a car is high or low cowl. The firewalls are nearly 4" different in width, but only a couple inches in height. Ivo's looks like a low cowl to me. And the slanted windshield is a '23 feature, although the '15 - '22 windshields will interchange with the 23's slanted ones. So it could be an earlier-than-'23 body (with a '23 windshield), but not a later one. Ivo's "bucket" was made from a cutoff Touring Car body, as was Norm's.

I wouldn't like it but to each his own. Maybe he just didn't know how to shorten a column

  23. I guess this is what folks are talking about when they say, "sitting on top of the car, not in it."

It did have a shortened column and I couldn't operate the pedals. The column has to be way up high for my knees to be able to push in the clutch and brakes. I'm going to reverse the dish on the steering wheel for a bit more chest clearance, then it'll have to stay there. If I put the wheel where it looks best, I can't fit into or drive it.

It's one of those things, there's limited space in a T, especially for a tall guy. When I sit in it deep, almost on the floor, my legs are bent at a tighter angle and I need that clearance.

Looks like the windshield would only keep the wind off your knees.

I'm sure, as most people think, a car like this is not very comfortable or practical.
Throughout history, these kind of things have never been the "guiding light" for real hot rodders when it comes to building a car. I think this car was built in the early/mid 70's and I'm guessing it saw more fairgrounds miles than hiway miles.
I'd reserve a seat in a time machine for an opportunity at some of that misery.

I just try to refrain from putting extra stuff on my roadster that it doesn't need.

    P. S. I am being nice.

Exactly. From what I've read, wasn't it a common practice to strip all that extra crap off?

I rather highly disagree.... All 6'1" and 190lbs of me. It's all in the setup of the seat and steering column. Hell, I've done 400 mile days in mine.
