Because thats what my daughter said the Olds 455 sounded like when it was a worn out exhaust leaking POS in its original Delta 98 at stoplights. An old man grumbling.....mutter, mutter, mutter.....

My '53 Bel Air project is called Hattie, not painted on it or anything [nor will it be], but I figured a goodly part of the funds that bought her for me initially came from my maternal granny's side of the family by way of inheritance, and then an hour before I bought her we'd stopped for lunch at a little diner called "Hatties", so it seemed kinda omen-ish. Grandma was Harriet but was often called Hat or Hattie. Later, while sanding the rear quarter panels, I found that some prior owner had had "Night Moves" painted on her flanks.

  11. i never named a car but my mum liked my 50 dodge coupe so much she started calling her "darline". its kinda catchy so it stuck.

The green one, the black one, and the other black one. They would come if I called them so what's the point of a name.

  25. I don't have names for any of my own cars but anyone who drove through Timaru in NZ a few years ago may have seen the pink early '50s Chev parked on the main street with the name Floyd painted on its tail.
There was some correspondence on this subject in one of the English motoring magazines many years ago. I remember one writer said that their kids called the car The Manger, because they went away in it. Another writer said they called their car MINI because that was what was written on the front.

I usually refer to the Falcon as "The Shaggin' Wagon," but mainly just "The Falcon.

The previous owner of my '63 Econo named it Oscar  ....Yeah
