  3. This myth will never die. Ration coupons were issued to drivers, not vehicles. The amount of gas that you were allotted was based upon your job and it's importance to the war effort. A regular Joe got four gallons a week. It didn't matter if he drove a pickup or a motorscooter. Doctors, farmers, policemen, etc. got more. Truck driver got as much as they wanted, but they had to be employed as a truck driver, not just own a truck or some ersatz "truck"made from a hacked up passenger car

  8. First time I ever saw a school bus on a Reo chassis. Reo was started by the same guy who started Oldsmobile. REO= Ransom Eli Olds.

Older mechanic neighbor had one. 2wd with a Flat head 6 & 3 speed overdrive. Stored motorcycle & stock car parts in it. It once was an Army ambulance. Willis Wagon in the Kaiser owned Jeep days looks late 50's to mid 60's. Pretty cool styling. I swapped some parts to get a 327 Chevy adapter from one & the jeep input shaft & bell housing adapter & refit them in my 66 IH Scout with a Chevy small block. Those front ends make killer wall art! I've been using the same ISP since 1996, I have a 'Home' Page, also known as a 'Vanity' page there, It's being deleted by them Dec. 1,2015. http://people.consolidated.net/willy/ is the address, also you can google 'hillbilly kaiser' to find it.Thought You guys might enjoy it before it fades into oblivion forever.

  19. [QUOTE="High Plains Drifter, post: 11269813, member: 98228] Very nice man! Nothing like a cold April afternoon scavenger hunt while the leaves are still off the trees. It's always amazing to me what you can find hiding before everything is covered in green. Those Dakota shelter belts were still chock full of treasure last time I was there (many years ago), but I'll bet the inflated scrap market prices even took its toll on the plains tin supply. 20. Was only a few years ago when we looked at those cars, tried making a deal for all of them couldn't come to an agreement with the owner. He thought they were gold (like we haven't heard that before!) There were a lot of Model-A parts to. As far as I know the cars are still out there! The 42' chev thats buried in snow was in really decent shape.
