After hours of searching the web about how to wire a signal stat 700 with modest success, (a 5 wire signal switch) most have given up and gone to a 7 wire switch. The 700 just looks cooler. The issue is that the 700 doesn't use/cancel the brake lights as the signal lights. But I have found chatter about using a trailer tailight converter to make it possible. It was mentioned here, on the Ford barn and on the Ford truck site, but each thread was absent a diagram, ...and once again; asking my trusty and knowledgable NAPA guy simply convinced him I'm a nutty old crackpot ... ..does anyone have a diagram using the trailer converter in tandem with the 700 switch to get working rear signals and brake lights?
At the bottom of this thread (next to last post on the 2nd page): http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=566803&page=2 there is a schematic for a cheap & easy (maybe $20 worth of parts) adapter you can make to do what you want to do. Doesn't use the trailer adapter, but gets the job done.
If I understand it right, Your switch is used by many semi (Tractor Trailer) applications. The newer ones are integrated, but the old Fords and such used signal stats
Early 90's Volvo-White and Mack used the SignalStat units, which are readily available from truck supply places, as well as from auto electric specialty suppliers. 4TTRUK
