I like 51 Plymouth grilles also really like 1955 Chrysler grille bar or considering something even cleaner and simpler. Please share or let me know if you have something left over from a project

I also used exhaust tubing to form my grille shell (as in the thread in post #3).

Grille was a V-ed '59 Chevy over-rider bar, with parking lights in place of the bullets.

does anyone know how many inches a 55 Chrysler newyorker grille bar is, how much would need to be sectioned out to fit a shoebox.

I took 9" out of this '55 Chrysler grill bar. I am looking for some pics to upload of a Merc grill shell install in a shoebox...I got your PM :)

Here are some pictures of the Merc shell in my Ford now (thanks to Lloyd!), and the one that was in it before the head-on collision in '06 (the grey primer pics). The first one is a customer car, and the last one (painted) is my Ford now.

.rob whats your opinion on the fitment of a 51 Plymouth grille in a shoebox,, they are 47" end to end and about the right depth,, seems like it would a perfect fit with a merc style surround like yours? Also our other friend Jim heiser has been running one his mercury for about 20 years. thanks again

    Lloyd is a great guy!

As far as the '51 Plymouth grill in a Merc shelled shoebox, I think it's a neat idea. That's a great kustom grill, but I see most of them mounted too low- they're not centered in the grill opening. I'd have to see how the bottom of the three teeth correspond to the Ford valance while still getting it to sit in the Merc shell at a decent height. I'd have to see pictures. I'll keep an eye out for a Chrysler bar or something similar. :)

Oh, I like that! I'd put some tits on the end of that and run it...maybe dummy spots or '51 Ford grill bullets (but they're pricey little guys now!)
