Event Coverage RWYB-Reynolds, GA Dec. 5, 2015

Making progress, got some paint on the firewall this morning. Nothing like a Sunday morning driveway spray job. Single stage PPG urethane 1969 dodge b5 bright blue, sparkles pretty good, lots of gloss, but I need a better gun I got a little too much texture on the vertical surfaces. That is a far as painting will go this year I think, I just want it back in one piece and under its own power again. Motor goes back in Tuesday, hopefully for the last time. Lots more to do but November seems possible at this point.

 

Looking good brother Keep whittling on it and it'll come together. What engine is going in it?

Well, this thread is on page 7, so I guess I better bump it!

 

With a new surface going down at the track, it should be quite seasoned and ready for us by November. Last year with those young guys keeping the waterbox full There was water damn near all the to the 60' mark Even my slow coupe spun coming off the line. But don't get me wrong, great times were had all day

And to my understanding there will be a new road for spectator parking.

 

Maybe having a new road for spectators will also include a change in the ticket selling procedures. Some improvement needed there.

That new surface should be well seasoned and "tractionized" by the time we run in Nov.

 

Yeah Dave it should be that for sure.

 

Did they laser grind, and level the track?

 

I have no idea on the laser grind. Hell, I'm just glad to get a surface that ain't like a washboard from years of use. There's a strip here in GA elsewhere than Silver Dollar, but also unnamed by me, that the launching pad is so wavy that it's almost impossible to run a manual shift without a line-lock.

Last week I sent Ed Swearingen (to those just joining us on this thread, Ed's the track owner &promoter) a link to this thread.
Called him yesterday, and he said Ms Dorothy is going to post a link to this thread on the SDR website. Good idea, I think, as it should help folks understand what happens at the event.

Here is one more, you can see the blue on the driveway as that was the same spot where I painted it two weeks before. It sits pretty low with the motor weight on it, I like it.

AllWilly, I know your feelings on SIM, as I also had last minute troubles and did'nt make it. Hope you can make it to RWYB.
