  3. To Ryan, El Jefe, the Tardells, and everyone else involved with this show,

First, thank you very, very much for allowing me to participate in the best traditional show i have ever seen. All the cars were wonderful, walking down the back of the power plant building and seeing all the cars lined up almost took you back to the old days. I have been struggling with the word to fit the feeling I had when I left that day. Nostalgia... I think that is the closest to a time machine experience I will ever have. I look at a hot rod with the story playing in my mind about what it must have been like back in the day when the young kids were "cruising" in their machines. This show had me thinking I was walking amongst them. So thank you guys/gals for creating this experience for me. Everybody there from the famous to the families there to introduce a bit of history to the next generation were all super friendly and only had one thing on their mind that day... love of old rods, the way they were.... I know my ride didn't have a pedigree or wasn't the nicest by far but, my love for keeping the traditional style alive and hoping the one's that started this are at least looking down and giving me a nod of approval. So, thank you very much for allowing me and my truck to take part in this wonderful show. I appreciate it more than you know. Applause to all!

Van shows. Invest now. The next thing you know there will be tons of jerks lining up to get the latest polyester bellbottoms and Blue Oyster Cult T-shirts with their dumb bowl shaped haircuts. All arguing about the rising price of "Original" Spade shaped bubble windows and how you can't find a decent '76 chevy van for a good price these days. Those Fuckers!

Everything was perfect about the show, the cars, location, music, even the weather. We met allot of really cool people, saw a lot of old friends and no one had an attitude. It was well worth the long haul from Cali to be a part of. Thanks Ryan and everyone who helped put on a perfect show! TK

This event is iconic in its total coolness, am event that showcased great planning an insight by Ryan and Keith, El-jeffe's experienced and tasteful insertations with one of the coolest music programs ever, The Jungle Rockers set the tone with a very exciting and rockin set, Dale Watson's set was so fine as always, his band is one of Austins treasures, my pals The Stone River Boys are always superb with Dave Gonzales and Mike Barfield up front, as well as Scott Esbeck (formerly of Los Strait Jackets fame) leading a tight rhythm section, and the pedal steel accents the bomb, The Derailers are hitting new highs these days and the key board man, Sweet Basil McJagger is one of our home boys transplanted to Austin and swingin hard. The rides were so off the hook cool it was sensory overload, and the entire population of the show were a pleasure to be associated with. As I told Ryan after the show "A Home Run", we are pleased to have been a very small part of the event. The nice folks John Joyo and wife at Austin Speed Shop crew were perfect hosts and the nite was outstanding at the most hip speed shop ever. Special thanks for the extended hospitality they afforded us. Bob Bleed and his Jade Idol blew the doors off the Continental Club, Rocco, special thanx, you rule! The setting at the Power Plant was pure Twilight Zone, Thanx again to all involved. For The South Omaha Turds, ~Sololobo~

Speaking as one of the "rejects" -- who showed up anyway and just parked outside -- it was a great day. My brother, Richard, and I had the pleasure of escorting our 11-yr-old friend Dan around the show, and he was curious about everything. Big thanks to Blake for letting Dan sit in your car and experience a hotrod from the inside lookin' out. I think the "bug" bit him. and as Jimmy Buffett once said, "once that ole bug bites you ... you live with the sting!" He's now a Revolution convert! Oh yeah... he favors flames and fender-skirts.

Along with all the customary thanks to all the cutomary people, let me add my own thanks to the Meatheads for organizing the cruise out to the Top Notch for burgers and a movie. It was a great way to involve lots of kids and families in the day's activities.

Looks like it was an incredible show and needs to be on my radar for next year.
I'd rather look at 100 real hot-rods than 3000-4000 billet laden street rods any day.
Nice job to all involved. A special congrats to my pal xderlict (Dick) and friends for all the hard work and long hours (Dick basicly gave up his whole summer) they put into the Hoodlum to have it there. Well Done. Gary

after perusing over all the threads/posts/pics, I wouldn't label it as a show...more like The Gathering

  22. What an epic event! Quality over quantity. Such a simple concept and it works wonders. I've never seen a better collection of cars. Amen to the dudes who made it all happen. The venue and the collection of cars is dead on. The coverage on here has been top notch. I hope to make it down there someday. And the "R" stickers on the windshields are a very nice touch.

If this thing happens again--missed it last time and have been waiting and hoping for its return ever since--as an Austinite I would totally volunteer to help in any way to make it possible. I'm sure I can't fathom how much work and logistics putting a show together would take, but I can definitely take orders from someone who does

So was this last held in 2010? Would the next one be in the Austin area?

I would love to put together a hill-climb event in Arkansas. That may never happen. A lot of hard work goes into putting on a good event.
