Holy Cow! You're back. Pleeeeeeeeeeeez don't keep us waiting so long for another update. I love this car and all of the work you keep doing to it.
Yikes that is tough lookin' .... you force me to hunt further within the darkened bowels of this cool ass site for what the heck' you started with. That looks most awesome sir !!! Badass fab' work obviously ... but how much is the question.
the rear is from a maverick or something...it's sitting on a spare frame,,,the real drivetrain has a 9 inch ford rear.........
a great deal of it did in fact end up getting scrapped.......it sat outside for two years with many areas in bare metal, including a lot of unground welds....(it was covered, but, i guess it's almost like a greenhouse when you do that) i didn't think it would have to be outside for that amount of time, and i admit i didn't take the proper precautions against rust...basically, after weighing the option of blasting it (i'd be worried that i might have missed some areas in the unground welds...plus factoring in the expense of blasting)..or starting over, in the end it was cheaper/more sensible to start over....i had the advantage of knowing exactly where to make all my cuts for thew sectioning job, so i was able to get back to where i am now, fairly quickly........
i had a little time (not enough, lol) to work on the car for a bit today,,,i bought a really nice57 mercury grille at a swap meet yesterday, hoping to use it in the car, as i really liked the design...after some careful consideration, i decided against it,,it was too square-ish on the ends,,and the car is very curvy,,and the angle was not close enough....so..i cut up two 52 ford upper grille surrounds, did a little welding, and now i have my grille opening.....i can hardly wait to make the rolled pan that will tie it all together (final pic is a rough photoshop illustrating my basic idea for the pan)....
View attachment 2961815 a quickie photoshop to fix the horrendous nosebleed stance...it was killing the visual.
