Call him back when the ad runs out, odds are if he still has it he will take your offer.

Gonna wait around and see if the guy with the 62 will come down on price and take $3500 even though he said he is firm. In the meantime I'll keep being patient and see what else pops up.

  4. My '64 c10 panel truck has a 230 6 cyl, 3 spd w/ overdrive and the stock 4.11 rearend. The best thing I did was add the o/d trans so I could go on the freeway comfortably. Get a '63 and up so it won't have a torsion bar front end and drive the wheels off.

c20 is going to be heavier, more expensive brakes also try to find a saginaw 3spd o/d from a later 60's car (little fab work on the shift linkage).

  5. Also your area tends to be more expensive, look in the IE, LA, even the OC.......if your real serious then AZ.

Also worth mentioning the fact that a 2 wheel drive pickup will go about 10 feet in dry beach sand before it gets stuck.

True it's pretty compact sand that a lot of people drive on without issue. Sometimes I go there with my roommates 2011 Hyundai Tucson so she can walk her dog and throw the ball around and her car doesn't get stuck. I'm not planning on driving over true sandy ocean type beach.

Thanks for the good advice. I want a long bed and do prefer c10s if they are lighter. It makes sense to get a 63' and up.

One thing I have found to be true, there will always be another car/truck if you're patient. If a deal isn't right, walk away, another one is just around the corner. Be patient, you'll find what you want.

  13. The Saginaw will work in the C20 also. A little mod to the shift linkage (if it's a column shift), shorten the front driveshaft and lengthen the speedo cable ( I had an extension made) is all it takes. Or if it's a floor shift you can always go the T5 route, but whatever you do an overdrive will make a world of difference. As everyone has said the long beds should be cheaper (stake/flatbed are the cheapest).....just take your time and you'll find a good one.

Oh wow I wish that one was closer for that price I could not care about it getting beat up.

I'll consider maybe needing to drive a decent amount to look at one in a lower price range.

That one is worth the drive. Its a clean truck. The price on these has went way up and the 67-72s seem to be falling

Just anther tip, the 64 thru 66 windshields were different than the 63 and earlier. Your better off, as you have said, looking at 63 and up. I have had a 63, a 65 and a 66. If it were up to me I would pick the 64 and up over the 63, seems the bodies are slightly better.

Thanks yea I know. I actually love the wrap around windshield of the 63'. It reminds me more of the 50's trucks. I really love the 55-59 Chevy trucks more than the c10s but the beds are smaller and they are harder to find and cost more generally from what I've seen. For not a 63-66 C10 would do just fine. Eventually I do want a 55, 56, or 57 Chevy truck.

  23. It is for sale and at the high end of what you are looking to pay.

There was a c10 that was in Carlsbad on Craigslist for $2800 but it expired and I kept the guys number. Small block 327 and I believe 350 trans. The guy said he bought it for $2500 and was going to put disc brakes and power steering and a cheap paint job but he's not had time and wants to recover the $300 in dmv feed.

He responded back to my text yesterday and I'm probably going to go check it out. Here are some preliminary photos, I asked for more.

It doesnt look bad but it is hard to tell from the pics.Does that truck have 8 lug wheels? If so I wonder if it is a C-10?! Always worth going to look at one.

Yea it might be a c20 based on the 8 lugs.

My experience is sandiego cars suck for the most part ... Too much costal air too much rust , too close to TJ to get anyone with a real knowledge or work ethic fix them correctly most rusted vehicles here have rust holes filled with Bondo , and are high priced Central Valley , even the I.E. Is where the clean trucks are

You have got some wierd parameters , you have a budget and expectations , but expect it to have a forsale sign across the street from your house ,

honestly I think you need to find someone that knows what they are looking at and help you... You can't just go shopping off craigslist pics, you need to educate yourself , otherwise you are doing nothing but wasting your time and their's ...window shopping

I'd say that last one fits your needs and your driving ability a lot closer. 3/4 ton isn't all that bad if you just plan to keep it as a truck to use as a truck. It will tow most things you may need to tow and haul a camper if you decide to venture further out and want to have a few comforts. A good scrub job, some sand paper and some Rustolium would make it reasonably presentable parked in the driveway unless you can sell the neighbors on the "it has real patina"thing.

We used to stick a full size mattress in the back of our 68 long bed and make up the bed and snap the tonneau cover down and take off when we were your age.

I was mistaken it has a 327 and 4 speed standard trans. Still I may get it for $2500 or at most $2800. I could do a cheap paint job and convert front brakes to disc and be done with it for a while if it drives ok. I'm heading there in an hour to check it out.
