I'm digging on it. That looks good and isn't over done. Just spray a few coats of satin clear over the green to knock down the gloss.

All you need now is to do it and get yourself a set of wide whites

Yeah...again, just need some $$$$ to make that happen. 1) complete engine 2) bodywork and primer/paint 3) interior 4) wide whites. The skinnies are getting me down the road right now and are nearly brand new. So you see the priority ;)

And now you don't even need an accent color for your rims. That looks great, you should make that your new avatar for inspiration!

Well, I decided to go red on the wheels...I felt they were missing some depth with these caps, making the tires feel larger and almost like I was running a smaller wheel. White walls will (eventually) fix that issue...

Man, that looks awesome too!! Amazing what simply removing/adding skirts and caps will do to change the attitude. Kustom to Hot Rod, and back again!

A big milestone (to me) that came in a small package! So @cdoh and I decided we wanted to learn something, so we decided we would give shaving door handles a try. We got one done last night, will finish the rest this weekend. It's not perfect and needs some more finish work, but nothing a couple more grinds and a skim coat won't take care of. Felt good to make sparks fly using my car!

I will also share this picture with no shame to show what we are learning, again, our first time ever doing this. For the other ones, we are going to clean up the entire area of paint so we get a better feel for the flow of the surface. We also really dialed in our heat settings near the end so we will get better clean welds. Again, the primer was more to seal it before I left for the night knowing we would be coming back to clean it up this weekend. This also truly helped show the highs and lows.

I like your car, keep at it. I plan to possibly shave the rear handles on my olds someday, what are you planning to use to open the doors?

You guys did a great job and should be able to get the rest knocked out in no time now. I'm going to be doing the same to mine, as soon as I'm done with the floors. Keep going....

Thank you! For now I am doing the old reach in the window trick :) Eventually actuators and buttons will go in.

Thank you! Definitely going to keep going. Motivation mode in full effect!

So, I've been considering keeping the paint similar to its original color after doing the attached rendering of my (5 year??) plan, a chopped hardtop. "Sage"/teal green top, wimbledon White bottom. I ran across this picture today and I have emailed the fella to see what color he used.

How do you plan to address side glass if you hardtop it? I assume being up north, no side glass would be pretty limiting to how often you could drive it. Here is a pic of my chopped 51 four door project. Screenshot 2015-05-22 at 1.52.17 PM.png

First off, that chop is right on. The flow is perfect. How much is that front and rear?

In talking to Voodoo Larry, he explained you retain your front door flat glass, but then make a channel for the rear doors that a window simply slides into horizontally, that you would store in the car under the seat, in trunk, etc. for when needed. That piece of glass would have a rubber channel/seal to seal the gap.
