Like Christmas! Still mulling over which bumpstick to go with. Then the rebuild begins! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Flashback Friday? Just fun to see how far I've come, even though it hasn't been a ton... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Only my opinion but just a single outlet side pipe would be better. Glad you choose to go the Custom route though.
OK, saw it again just now on the TV. Log Dog is the name on the bow of a docked ship in the episode where the "mother" needs oral surgery in the show "Alaskan Bush People". And, it's a light green ship! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
I know the feeling. It's just sitting there teasing you. I've had two 4 x 8 sheets of 18ga steel in my garage for about a year now. I've only had the time to use a little less than half a sheet. Every time I go out there I tell myself 'One day I'm going to get a chance turn this stuff into a hot rod.'
The plan is to get the motor built and done this summer. Then I need to decide my next steps based on my budget...I have some funds that I can either blow it apart, get the body blasted and in primer before next season, or put it towards some mechanical (brakes and front suspension). It is running and driving as it is, but a full front end overhaul is required at some point. But if I'm honest, I want the bodywork done soooo bad...only because it is not THAT bad to what I can tell, and my uncle can blast the car for free...
I say Have fun driving it this summer, and blast it apart this fall. That will give you all winter to get hopefully get it done for the spring/summer. I drove mine until it wasn't safe to drive anymore. It just happened to be November to the timing was perfect.
That is what I am leaning towards. Drop in the SBC 283, see how it runs, and then blast is apart over the fall/winter and work out any bugs with the SBC setup.
Is sandblasting really necessary, from what I can see looks like a D-A with some 80 grit would take it down in no time and not tear it up.
I suppose that is an option. I guess DA the areas that I know have issues, then scuff the rest, bodywork/patch and primer/paint...?
That is what I would suggest Charlie. I am sure you can't wait to get the V8 in. It will be a whole different car to drive!
You have no idea! There is a guy at our local cruise on Thursdays that has a 52 four door with a 305 SBC, done mild Kustom. Keeps me motivated for sure!! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
One more touch towards kustom...57 Lancer caps. Just need to get the wheels painted an accent color... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

So, been playing with some ideas. I want to give some more mild Kustom touches to this thing eventually, and have always wanted to do a gloss/satin black combo, so these colors here are more as a placeholder. I took the original trim, moved it lower to play off the wheel opening, and running all the way back to the rear quarter hump. Imagine the ivory color (roof and lower half) in gloss, and the green in satin. Not that flat black look, but a couple "textures" below gloss. Also added some lakes pipes, dummy spots, and what the heck...lowered it as well while at it.
