so i just read thru this post and have a few question...
1- on the inner rockers, the first piece goes all the way to the frame rail and then is plug welded over the floor?

2- after the first piece then another sheet is bent for the secondary inners and that is plug welded to the first sheet by where the door shuts at?

3-how did you do your outer rockers, did you buy the green mountain ones or make your own?

    thanks
    bob

  5. I will try and describe the rockers best I can. Off the floor the sides bend straight down the length of the floors parallel to the door opening. Then a c channel is welded to it, like a subframe, overlaping the floor on top and a lip on the bottom. Then the outer rocker welds to that. The rockers on a Merc are actually a three piece deal. Floor with drop on sides, inner sub rocker, and outer rocker.

I made all the replacement pieces on a 8 foot straight brake. It could be done on a 4 footer. The Green mountain pieces are nice and worth thier money. I just had the equiptment to do it or I would have spent the money and use theirs.

Heres a few pics if you need them emailed to you bigger to help see whats going on, PM me your address.

Hard to describe , anyone else?

Oh ... I'm sure when you were at the stage of pix #10 you must have looked in the mirror a few times & asked some serious build/sanity questions.

If I didn't see this thread & the before & after pix I would never believe.

You've done a great job with this vehicle.

Beautifully done. Would be tough to convince anyone that it's the same car without the build pics.
