Normally I would not do something like this on a public forum, but.... be warned before using the services of Gordini's Garage. Gordon was contracted by my folks to repair my dad's 1935 Chevy 3 window coupe after a small accident. After 2 years and approximately $12,000, nothing of the original contract was completed. The work Gordon did manage to do was shoddy and incomplete. We have been trying to get all the parts of the car back, and as of this writing, we are still short the steering wheel and drive shaft.

I do not intend to offend anyone. I just wish someone would have warned us before we got into this mess.

It's always a little suspect when people sign up just to badmouth someone else...provide more information, please.

  10. Here was your review on yelp. "My father was involved in an accident in his 1935 Chevy Coupe. The damage was relatively minor; a few dents in the cab and driver side fenders. Also the wooden frame of the cab was cracked. The car was taken to Gordini's Garage and $12,000 was payed for the new wood and the body repairs. That was 2 years ago. After wading through Gordon's excuses and all out lies regarding the progress on the car, we were able to get most of the car back in our possession. As of this review, we are hoping to get the fenders, hood cowl, and more than 18 other major components back. What little work that was done on the car is shoddy and will take more than the original $12,000 to undo. We do not even know if the wood for the cab was ever ordered.
If you value your car, DO NOT take it to Gordini's Garage."

Minor accident, but needed to be that disassembled and bad enough the wood was cracked????? Something isnt adding up.

Fair enough, but jumpin on here and posting this as your first, and maybe only post won't make you a lota friends either.
There's a kinda, introduction thing, and house rules that in your frustration, you may have overlooked.
As an owner of a 35 Chevy, I sympathize with you and your parents, and wish you luck in resolving this situation.

Plus, IIRC Gordon is Flesh Gordon and his car was well known here on the HAMB, so a 1 post newbie might need to post up more info and definitely pics to get attention here. Some of you might remember the car over the name.

To respond to all of your comments, allow me to say this. You are correct that jumping onto a forum to whine and complain is not appropriate. I am just trying to put our experience out there so others can be fully informed.
As for the price paid, my parents gave him the money in advance because he is a friend of my brother and they felt he could be trusted. Additionally, he told them that the replacement wood, the piece that runs under the rear window from one side to the other, would cost about $3500.
Lastly, I am not seeking sympathy, understanding, or a hug (though a warm pair of bunny slippers sounds nice). As stated before, I only posted this so others could make an informed decission.

I will endeavor to get pictures to post the next time I see my parents.

  18. No one is saying it didnt happen, but if you really are serious about warning anybody, you really need to post up pics. A guy with no posts, no pics to prove what he is saying could be ANYONE (even his competition) and wont be taken with a grain of salt.

I have a few pics of the car before the accident. As for my discription of the accident as minor, the car ended up on its side going around a corner. Speed wasn't a factor, my dad is in his 70s after all. I used the term minor because there was no frame damage (other than the wood section), only the sheet metal and one section of wood in the cab. 2012-07-01 19.55.04.jpg 2012-07-01 19.55.17.jpg 2012-07-01 19.55.32.jpg 2012-07-01 19.55.57.jpg

  20. Why didn't a red flag pop up when he said 3500 bucks for one, lousy hunk of wood????

  21. Good looking car. Pics of the body/car after the accident and then after the shop did/didn't do what they were paid to do was really more of what I was referring to. Body work/chassis work can be real expensive, and a chevy coupe (which is really just sheet metal nailed to wood) usually doesnt hold up well when it ends up on its side.

The after pics will have to wait until next week. I will visit the folks this weekend (Easter) and post them soon after.

  23. Was the car insured? What kind of policy? (Collector car/ Full coverage one would hope). Was there an adjuster involved? Just for the record, if a car winds up on it's side, I can't really think of that as a "minor" accident! Just my thoughts....Good luck getting things resolved.

Was the piece part of Jesus's cross or something??

If this guy is a friend of your brother's, why is your brother letting him bend your dad over?

I just gotta say this one little thing. You didn't google them, check out their site, look at their work? I just cam from their site and I wasn't impressed, they can sand down their welds, their transmission work consisted of apparently a cleaning and a can of spray paint. Their chop looked like I did it and I suck. Their engine build was surrounded by trash and they didn't even mask the engine before painting the valve springs.

Not horrible, but nothing I would consider for any high end work...

I guess what I am trying to say is if that's what he is representing with his shop, putting out there as the best he can do so he can customers, that's saying a lot.

Not sure how that can happen to a car, but it really makes me want to hear the other side of this story.

Everyone is human and prone to mistakes and character flaws. Giving 12gs up front (mistake) to a guy who's about suffer a lapse of character get you a great seat in this boat.

Neat coupe, I hope you get something worked out and find resolution.

All it took was this picture from their web site for me to know this place is a sloppy shop. If they couldn't take 3 minutes to lay a couple valve covers on and two-bolt a timing cover to the front before spraying it, you know they're taking shortcuts on pretty much everything they do.

Flesh Gordon '70s B porn at its best. :D

I don't know anything about Gordini's garage. If they said they would do something and didn't for whatever reason that is a bad deal. Anyway thanks for the warning, I'll probably just keep scabbing my own junk together until I cant do that any more I suppose. I charge way more then I am worth but I know where to find me if I have a complaint. ;)

damnit I meant to mention that I aint offended, it just got a chance to see a bunny with a pancake on his head and that is one of my favorite things.
