Finally found a rare "Batwing" air cleaner for my 57 Olds. It was rough, but I just finished restoring it.
They only made this batwing for the 57 Oldsmobile with J-2 set (tripower)for a few months, just a hand full of J-2 cars received these batwings. Then they came out with the round dry element type, for the remander of 1957 production.
Not too many of these batwing aircleaners left, since they did not make them too long.

I added the pictures, you guys are rough!

and the moral of the story is....????

A picture of this unusual item accompanying your heart-rending story would have enhance our collective enjoyment. Otherwise, I'm left to imagine a batman cape with a trio of carburetors huddled beneath its ample spread.

    I found a bunch in a barn.
They were on some cars that ran when parked.
The Old Lady that had them, gave them to me.
Since I'm not a Caddy guy...
I took them the scrap metal guy who gave me $5 each.
    I'm $50 richer,Did I get a good deal??

I want to go on the record with this one. We have been having a little fun here, but I'd like to point out that "57Olds", the guy who originally posted this thread, has one of *the slickest* restored J2's on the planet!!!

I hope he [and everyone] understands that even tho a few of us HAMB'ers get a little goofy from time to time, it's all in good fun, and no harm or dis-respect intended.

As a minor collector of weird Olds stuff, I enjoyed the pics. Anything that's go fast Olds is ok in my book.

I really have a soft spot for all things oldsmobile. as you can see by my 48. So 57 keep on posting and know that the silent majority are grooving on your pics even if we don't say so.

I thought bat wing air cleaners were the ones that were round with 2 openings on each side of the front like this one.
