By 1924, tires had come a long way. And in Massachusetts, ladies grew quite attached to them. Maybe she was related to the Franklin lady?

Pea pickers from Vermont who in 6 weeks earned $7.00. They are at squatter's camp in California during the depression.

Look like they are doing a little top end work on this sedan.

The weekend is just around the corner. Think BIG. This was Wm Vanderbilt's racer, but I'll have to defer to T-Head on just what happened to it. As I recall, it never raced. LOC photo.

I believe you are right, but you should check in over at Kurtis's Cave on that car.

Twin6, this was a trick question, wasn't it? Somebody
obviously put Charles Darwin in there at left on the
sidewalk, using PhotoShop. The nicely skirted fenders
say 1932, and the four carbide lamps say 1909 A.D.,
so my gut averages that out to -- oh -- Bavaria in 1911.
The large wheels are very ghetto. So, I conclude that
THIS was the earliest RatRod on geologic record!
    Ain't science wonderful???

    Actually, I was just shittin' you, bro. It's a 1906 Heine-Velox,
built in San Francisco by daytime piano maker Gustav Heine.
I happen to know that Gustav loaned this -- his personal car
-- to California National Guardsmen to transport the injured
survivors of the '06 earthquake. Honest, man. I wouldn't monkey around on this serious thread.
