I got this car body which was originally a "Casey Jones" locomotive at Hershey about 19 years ago for my new grandson. I had intended to build a pedal car for all my grand kids but have too many(grand kids).
Car has homemade steering wheel, windshield frame, seat back extension and some swap meet find wheels. I attached a tongue like a wagon to pull it with put a solid floor in so the little guy didn't fall out the bottom.

If I remember correctly, the builders of those '32 pedal cars were given a "stocker" to start with. Who makes the stock version?

Ok guys so lets just say I am in the market for some peddle car action I have found a few sites that I will list below anyone else have pics of ones they have completed? are these things safe for the kids they all look like they are pretty low is it a pain in the ass having your kid in something that low ? Is one of these things practical?

How about something like this. I built these for the grandkids, 6 and 8. When I took them over to their house, every kid in the neighborhood was waiting on line to get a ride.
You could make it a little smaller, caster the front wheels and beef up the wing for a push bar

  8. Well I haven't posted on the HAMB in awhile and I was doing some motivational google image research for a xmas present I'm doing for my buddy's kid and of course I'm brought back here haha. Planning on starting paint this weekend. I have one question though. Did some of you just recycle and old wagon handle or did you buy it from somewhere?

This thread got me thinking. As if I didn't have enough projects going on already, and since I had this body just "hanging" around, I'm turning it into a stroller! I guess I'll post progress pics as I go along.

I find something always bring me back here!

I wanted to extend mine but make it look factory so i cut the handle off and welded it to a piece of electrical conduit. worked really good.

I remember when those came out. They were $1400!!!!! Had they been reasonably priced I would have snagged one for my kids!

  17. Well I finished mine last night. Not nearly as good as some posted but it was good practice for my first body and paint job. I also added a few do-hickies. The seat has a sensor switch that turns on the "Rear view mirror lights" and the orange switch on the dash honks a buzzer horn and flashes the lights. I figured a 2 year old would enjoy that.

I really like the blue paint job you did on your car, looks sweet.

I just picked up my own pedal car, same body style as this one. Apparently, from what I've been able to research, the car is an AMF "Generic" car built around 1968-1977, and can be made into many different models using different graphics, wheels, etc. Since I have no kids, I plan on making it a tail-dragger with different wheels and undercarriage, plus some other stuff I've been thinking about ............ I'll keep you guys posted on it when I start the build - right now just gathering bits and pieces.

Mark, I went back through this thing and can't see where anyone asked you where the blower set-up is from. Will you tell?
