I was going to make some custom headers but after thinking about it I just want to go with some cast factory manifolds...
had to cut a "pie slice" out of to angle away from steering (plan to do the pre/post heat stuff, erhh... i mean i' hoping my good friend "Welder Dave" will do)

also to make more steering shaft clearance I'm going to box this section of the frame with 3" ID tubing halves. (earlier is set the steering box into the frame for this too).

I not sure how long this "duct tape" will work, got an old style pillow block I gotta make a mount for. Also to make more complicated I covered up the dipstick tube hole in the block. Got a couple idea about moving dipstick, or just not use one.

thanks a lot, I never knew about this difference. and due to clearance issues, I plan to install distributor in whatever position gives the most clearance. 20150819_065327-01[1].jpg I now plan to modify base to look like newer style...

  5. I would think you could turn the old housing to match new style. Or maybe switch to the later housing.
    Good build I'm enjoying it.

    worked on fun stuff alittle bit;
making these 1" aluminum spacers into adapters to use offset chevy valve covers on my newer cylinder heads. plan to use allen head bolts on bottom 2 holes (drilled out 1/2 way down) and after welding C-clamped pieces will drill/tap built up area for offset cover hole location.

want to use the MT breathers, but didn't fit.....

Its cool when you get a chance to watch creative guys build cars. Mostly its mechanical or paint. Not often I see were both work hand in hand. Digging the vibe, Nostalgic early colour scheme with a steam punk twist, yet keeping trad all the same. Nice combo.

not too sure how many gauges i'm using yet or this Mr. Gasket gauge thing, but looked through my collection of used gauges and purchased a "GMC" vinyl refacing decal set. I'm leaning toward using the original fuel tank and this limits my guage options.....

anyone got any pics/links to custom model A gauge setups still using the factory cowl fuel tank ?

still screwing around with exhaust manifolds... making some 1/2" flanges to begin exhaust system. trying to get motivated to make some real progress....

I've decided to go with aluminized Non-Mandrel bent Walker universal pipes ordered from RockAuto, I've been 95% happy with parts I've received from them. plan to cut and piece together as needed. (some reason I'm liking the wrinkled bent pipes for this build)

had some time today and got master cylinder tacked in place and the front floor boards roughed out. Engine/tranny is so far forward and down I almost don't need a "tranny hump" at all. Plan to smooth wood layer transitions, cut brake fluid and battery access holes next.

heated and bent brake pedal lever about 10 freakin times before welding on the stock pedal pad.

I'm trying to make this build easier (for someone with arthritis) to get in/out of and also comfortable to drive with size 10 boots

Look at you go! What application are the pieces for over the axle from? What diameter? That is a great way to build a custom exhaust without a tubing bender. I may have to try that for my OT truck.

    Thanks, Ryan.

2'' and I don't think there is a real application, Walker calls it a Universal Tail pipe http://www.walkerexhaust.com/catalog/walker-exhaust-systems/e-catalog-lookup/66007

thanks again for comments, not all appreciate "The Paisley's"

got to hang out with two good friends awhile today, and put some holes in the "off the shelf" brake pedal.......

  20. Question:
Your Autometer Speedo goes up to 120 mph, but the GMC vinyl refacing decal only goes up to 100 mph within the same sweep.
Therefore, when the GMC faced speedo indicates 100, your car is doing 120, and when it indicates 50, you're actually doing 60.
    Right?

thinking about running the exhaust above the frame cross member/spring mount..... (the blue strap is to hold suspension at ride position so I can build shocks and track bar mounts) I'll have cut the floor under back seat.... to gain a little extra clearance.

correct if you using the factor (GMC) axle gears and tire size.
I figure it's not going to be correct 1st try, but close. I plan to use a under/overdrive cable box that mounts between tranny and cable to correct or get close.

Thanks for the link to the exhaust. I just went back a little further and found where you posted it anyway. I must have missed it before. Thanks again.

got some exhaust tacked up today, also decided to go with some actual mufflers. this is a good shot of how I mounted the steering box at an angle and sunk into frame to make more steering shaft/exhaust manifold clearance.
you can also see the beginning of my tranny mount (cardboard template is all I've managed to do.)

I've been away from the board for a while pursuing a failed relationship but once I got back I just had to catch up on your progress! Your build has been by far my most favorite ever. I have my own sedan to build and even though it may be a different flavor I feel like I can relate to the artistic aspect of the build. Especially the paisley!!!! LOL! Keep up the great works!!
