  4. 52, no matter the temp your car is gonna be on fire! It is so well planned out, and almost more art than car! I can't wait to see the final product!

got some parts mocked up to see how everything fits and start thinking about frame boxing, modifications etc.... thanks again to my neighbor Tom, couldn't do it without you.
the SBC is just sitting on floor, no weight in on the frame at all.
still not 100% on what engine/trans combo I'm using. (flathead is under the tarp in last picture.)

I was surprised how many holes I actually drilled to mount these brackets...
Plan is to weld 24 nuts, 16 bolt heads and re-used drilled out solid rivets in running board holes inside the frame and then box.
still undecided between a SBC and 8BA, I need to decide soon......

That is one heavy duty hole saw, who makes it? Chassis is looking real nice. Just bolted one to two engine stands at work so we can prime and paint it rotisery style. Bob

Not sure, I looked and don't see a name. They do work nice.....

well........ think I'm going with the small block cheby now. Been measuring, drawing and figuring out a way to raise a water pump like ZIP's, but also move back a little bit too.
Was welding some holes/frame nuts etc..... and my welder (Hobart 187 w/Miller gun) just kept messing up, I narrowed it down to the worn/bad liner. so weekend plan changed to the steering box mount.

Using a Vega box in the normal way, except I'm going to sink this mount into the frame flush, with the lower 2 taped tabs hanging below.

I'll try to get a pic of chair, nothing special... just a sewing practice chair.

got the steering box recessed into frame and tacked in place.

Probably the most interesting, inspiring and artful project I've ever seen on HAMB and I've been on here for 13-years or so !! Words escape me, but you're doing a first class job. Love the new ideas you bring to the table. Wish I lived closer - would love to meet you personally and see your project up close.

Thanks for taking all the time to post your progress.

Cool idea for raising the fan. I'm wondering if you'll need a small sleeve around the bolts that hold the adapter to the block to keep them from compressing the tube and getting loose. What do you think?
Would only require a hole big enough to accommodate the sleeve in the outside face and welding around the forward face of the sleeve. The inner could just butt against the inside face of the back wall and squeeze it against the block. Might be worth the effort.

  22. Similarly, I really like that solution to a common problem. Agree with the compression/sleeve concern, albeit I'm sure that you're all over it. Out of curiosity, what was the pump off originally?
Enjoying your progress and details, neat stuff.
    Cheers,
    Drewfus

I'm worried that you may not have enough belt wrap on your water pump pulley to keep the belt from slipping. Maybe a flex fan would help by moving a lot of air at low speed and flattening out when you wind it up.
    Nice job on the pump.

I agree with you. I'm a little worried too, and hope since the pump don't have much drag it will be ok.

I want to make sure my "water pump raise thing" don't leak, so I took to a professional welder friend to Tig up everything.......

    next mini-project has started;
