  1. It looks like too much is going on, also rather impractical.

Glad I stopped by to check on your progress, looks like you are moving along nicely. I like those aluminum headlight brackets. Bob

I'm sill not sure, but thanks for all comments, I'm gonna stare at awhile this morning and make acouple changes possibly. Also I've got pretty thick skin.

  5. Pretty thick skin ? You have a pea green hot rod celebration. I'd say you just don't give a f#*@ ! :)

Your gauge location is interesting....why not ? Firewall mounts for engine tuning....kinda' the same reasoning.....right? Definitely not a belly button. Dunno' if I would do the same....but having said that.......you have already run circles around my creativity levels....so don't listen to me. What say you ?

Ya know, I think it is an interesting approach. It is different AND your car. Personally, with my eyesight, I would need to take binoculars along...LOL.

yeah, I liked the idea better than how it looks.
so I changed back to my original idea, moving the mounts from the bottom to the back aluminum piece. 2nd pic is for those that like detail, brass screws and 1,000 hammer marks on the inside of aluminum.

Do you even have a box to think outside of?;) I thought the gauge idea in the headlights was an interesting idea. I was assuming that these would be in place of firewall gauges that were meant to be used during maintenance and that you would have another set in the dash..... was that the idea?

love your comments, you have way with words......

I really like engine compartment gauges, Yes these would be in place of firewall gauges. I like a vacuum and fuel pressure while tuning and engine...... I robbed the gauges from a SBC intake I've been building, I do plan to permanently mount them in these "logs"...

I like the gauges in the intake! Of course everyone else would choose just plain old round tube to make the intake log out of and use some boring old stromberg 97's.........:)

while waiting for headlights paint to dry I decided to measure rear axles again and start cutting....
plan to made a sleeve that matches the ID of each tube.... (and ensure straight before welding)

headlights are pretty much complete, still need to bend the stands into shape and paint, (made from the factory light bar) but will have to wait until build is much further along....
and of course cut those long adjustment bolts down so i can use an acorn nut

I can't remember much of the late 70's and entire 80's... use to party pretty hard, been 20 years now but still have some lasting effects I suspect. I'm not really sure but I always migrate to crazy busy patterns and wild colors.....

very happy with my simple license plate/tail light mount. used original spare tire bracket holes (I put a rubber grommet in top hole and run wire through it) lotta work for an almost un-seen part. Now I'm thinking about turn signals (possibly locate next to license plate similar to motorcycles, anyone got pics of something like that?)

don't worry, I don't believe I'm going to get this one completed anytime soon. I learned awhile ago, as soon as I finish a project I just start another..... so I figure "don't rush it, just enjoy the process"

Just use your existing taillights as turn signals.

thanks for comments, I like builds with lots of pictures and not so much reading myself....

so made these sleeves to fit the different I.D's of the axle tubes. I pressed in outer then warmed up inner to put in. I use a 1" bar and some spacers to make sure everything stays straight while welding.
not to artistic, but I have been thinking about the adjustable rear radius arms......

Another great idea to solve a difficult alignment problem due to different OD's . Well done and illustrated.

    1 step forward and 2 steps back today;
got the 1951 Dana 44 tubes welding to the 1993 Dana 44 center finished, but while I had the carrier and ring gear out I found a bearing race issue.... I guess I'll be ordering a R&P install kit later. (I prefer to spend money on things I want over things I need)
