It's 3:00AM, and after working 3 days 12-14 hours, and then today, about 17 hours, it's in paint! Thanks to guys like 57Joefomopar, Slowandlow63, Vic, Ron, Daran, and Louise, we finally overcame the big hurdle, and got it painted. What a day! we're all shot, and will have to call in sick tomorrow at work! Anyway, Detroit really seems to be turnigninto a reality. We've had our doubts many, many times. But hard work and long hours, and good friends, and volunteers, did the trick! Here's a couple previews. Slowand low Billy and Ron putting on the last coat of clear (my tendonitis, and exhaustion kicked in about 1:00 AM). And the final outcome. Now to get a hold of Anthony White and get his ass flown up here to do the striping...after a ton of sanding and buffing! Enjoy, all....I'm going to bed!
Nothing better than finishing up at 3am and then calling into work sick. Hahaha, great work, good to see her in paint!
I like the colors!! Looks great...I can remember pullin the all nighters to get the car done....but back then we were too stupid to call off work the next day...LMAO....
Looks great everyone involved!I can't wait to see all reassembled and striped. Are you going to give a clean shot of the cartoons on the rear?
Wow, that is incredible, the Kopper Kart was one of my favorite of the Barris wild customs. Thanks for recreating it - and GREAT JOB!!
definitly my favorite truck ever built. I am very happy that is being recreated you guys are doing a great job i can't wait to see it finished up
I mustve caught a bug yesterday because I was sick for work today. Imagine the coincidence that I was sick and able to sleep in. I had perma-grin all the way home. Now it's time for final assembly and alot of beers in Detriot.
Yeah, that was a long day. I'd like to publicly thank Monster Energy drink for keeping me awake on the ride home at like 2 am. Definitely a stressful and nerve-racking day, but the end result was well worth it. Final assembly will hopefully go smoothly and we can roll this out without any major drama or freak-outs by Vic.
love those long shop days had one a while back painting my brothers 56. 2:30 am we got done started at 9:00 am truck looks good
Seriously, the pics don't even come close to conveying how brilliant the candy kopper is. It's really going to be something to behold
That at least makes one person, you'd think this was just another build. This is HISTORY man! Mark and I were talking last night before I shot the last coat of clear and saying (in our 230am jargon) how we don't even want to look at pictures of the real one anymore, we can just walk into the booth and stare at it right in front of ourselves. There is one thing I hate on it though the Barris did. Right behind the rear wheelwell where the copper runs the bottom body line, there is one corner that isn't rounded in the paint. Every single picture we had showed it as almost a complete 90* angle, no smoothness whatsoever. So what did we do? 90* angle! UGH! Everything on the entire truck is smoothed and rounded and soft and then bleh!
Hey, BOINGGGGGGG!!!! Any plans for a West Coast Tour? Swankey Devils C.C. "Meanwile, back aboard the Tainted Pork"
Actually.........Vic wants to bring it out to the "new" Paso. Is that a good idea? Considering the distance/time/money involved for us? We aren't big time builders, just regular guys with limited funds, and vacation time.
To Right Arm Ed: Well, you only used your left arm while you were there, so you were kind of a hinderance to everyone when it came to applying tape to mask off the copper. Hey, at least you can still smoke with one hand. Have you ever thought of getting into pin striping? Assman!
Looks great Mark. Tons of terrific work to be uber proud of! Lead East this year all done I hope? There is one thing tho...when this project is done are you going to put your old sig back? The Custom Darwinism sig was probably my fav on the HAMB.
Vacation time? Ha, thats for the Roundup. I'm takin sick time baby. And there's nothing regular about Vic. -Left Arm Bill Ummmmmmm... Detriot (March 5th) comes before Lead East (September 5th) so ya.
Hey, Given that the "new" Paso/a.k.a. Santa Maria will be a new venue for the West Coast Kustoms' Cruisin' Nationals, some "teething- troubles" are to be expected. I don't think at this date that anyone can predict how it will all go down, but one thing's for sure, it will be different from Paso. Paso, in years past, was a great place to showcase a new kustom, it being an outdoor show and all, but the crowds and the "element" kinda turned the corner on that for me. The new venue hopes to leave all that in the past, I'm sure. You may claim to not be "big time builders", and regular joes, and all, but the"kart" ain't no regular build; not even by west coast- standards! Swankey Devils C.C.
