Old School Door Skin Covering?

    Got the doors back from the blaster!! When i bought the car the guy gave me 2 extra, so i had em all blasted.

    1st Skin Removed:

    this door weighed a ton with the second skin and all the bondo that was on top of it.

    I just chuckle iniside when i see stuff like this...

    What media did they use? Sand? Did the outside skin warp at all?

    also:

    Make sure and seal those up...they are already starting to rust, you just cant see it.

    guy said it was 50 grit, left a nice finish, yea need to get some primer on em.

    Im going to take off the outer skins (the rivited on ones) and cut the original panels a couple inches below the belt line and take em back to have the edges cleaned up.
    New skins ordered today...

    The doors with the second skins seem to be in better shape inside and out, various small dings and dents, the 2 that are rusted out at the bottom need complete lower frames and skins.

    50 grit sand? I'm unfamiliar with the different grits of sand, but it makes sense.
     
  6. I dunno..... rivets and a gallon of Bondo is definitely old school!
