I bought the one in my avatar and below on ebay this year and am turning it into my "Flea Market Hauler". It's a 1939 Ford 1-ton cowl/chassis with the box body made by Highland. The other one below is parked at a local ice cream place (last on road 2003), and I just took a bunch of detailed pictures for info for my project.

I'm glad that I caught this posting ! The mention of "Railway Express Agency" has now led me to more history and pictures of this truck. I can see the outline on mine where the diamond shaped Railway Express logos originally were.

a local dairy ran a fleet of old panel delivery trucks that they had been running since they purchased them new. They took them off the road a few years ago because they could no longer find parts to keep them running. they were MINT. They have one of each of their original delivery trucks from the years including the horseless carriage type. It's pretty neat. I'm not sure what happened to the majority of the ones they had.

not to hijack but BIG-BRO i saw one of those out behind an old garage in the woods it had the grille like yours, so probably mid-late 30s, made into a motorhome. it had the same body but was alot rougher. i thought it was a bread truck or something. by the other cars around it. looked like it had been there since the mid 60s. they can turn up anywhere.

While I was in San Antonia quite a few years ago a guy showed me some photos of a junk yard in the area that had nothing but old trucks, primarily old Ice Cream trucks from the 20s-50s. Some really cool Good Humor trucks like I remembered as a kid.
Would be neat to restore one of those 50 Chevy Good Humor Ice Cream trucks.

    here is an addition............

1965 DODGE chasised mail van with a government contracted body.

    currently it has a 225 slant 6 cyl with a 727 tranny.

soon to have a dodge 360 v8 with the same tranny.

    will be fun............

going to leave as is outside but it will be updated to travel in and be used as a swap meet wagon. space to carry anything and not have to unload it just add more stuff.

Every junkyard used to have a few real old ones stuffed full of parts. Whether they would sell one, and whether it would be worth buying, is another question. But it can't hurt to look around.

I've got one that I would sell. A '57 Grunman Olsen short curbside. I think I have a picture of it in my album.
