Thanks for chiming in on that grille guys. I agree about the one piece windshield on the Coupe, it accentuates that roofline. I love all the modest modifications.

Hade jag haft pengar hade jag köpt den.

Hoppas man får se den 2010?

    Congrats, Sondre!

I was actually considering the car myself when I saw the ad, but after some
consideration, I thought I'd better finish all my other projects first. :D

You are the perfect owner for the car and I'm looking forward to seeing it
next year! Since black isn't the original paintjob, you could consider going
back to the same purple as the old paint. If you find that likely to be the
original custompaint. Whatever you do, it's a wonderful find.

Thanks a lot Rik! I will do my best to give the coupe a good home :) Yeah I thought about contacting Brad and check if he knows anything about both the papers or the car. Have you seen the logo/ad on the top in any magazines that you remember? Finding the exact same in a mag will probably give me a clue about the date. Checked through your Barris ads but couldn't find it. I really look forward to browsing through Piero's new Barris DVD, maybe I can spot it on any of those pictures. Brett Barris is also a HAMBER, so maybe he could check with his dad.

Thanks alot Kent, I will treat it good! Yeah the black paint is falling off piece after piece, so after a couple of months of usage I guess it will be pretty much purple :) I was hoping I could just preserve it the way it is today. The chrome inside is a little pitty around the windows, and it's not perfect all over so I guess I'll keep it black as long as possible..... before I have big enough balls to drive around in a purple car I guess I have to become a beatnik member ;)

Yeah, I would love to know more about it, so far I have at least located Tom Carroll's old house. The place he was living when the car was modified at Barris: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...676,-118.416756&spn=0.001314,0.00284&t=h&z=19

Maybe mister and miss Gonzales that live there now knows anything :)

Hehe, yeah sure drop on by when you get the time!

Yeah, that is crazy! All of the trim and door handles were enclosed in the trunk of the car in a box....maybe he was the last one that touched them  haha

Sondre, I have never seen a feature on the Caddy used on the Barris Bill. The only time I have seen it before is on two Barris Business Cards. But I have no dates on when they where used. It does look like a late 40's early 50's built car though.

I saved these photos from Ebay (I think it was ebay) when it was for sale there a 7 or 8 month ago... It shows the purple paint a little better... I thought it would have been a much darker Purple.

I haven't seen a feature on that one before either. Yes the car seems to be restyled in the late 40s or early 50s, so I guess that means that I should look for when they changed their logo until another car.

Hehe, yeah maybe I should move into the garage :) I really hope the winter will be short so that I can roll it out of the garage early in the spring! So do you think it would fit some fins, or a bubble top or maybe quad canted headlights.... hehe, I'm just kidding with you :)

My firsr car back in 1959 was a 49 chevy. This car sets absolutely right on.

Thanks for posting all your pics, you made my day!

    Congratulations Sondre!

    WOW, what a find.
Can`t wait to see it in person..

Looks like the paintjob has a nice oily look to it. I would just clean and polish it up nicely.

Why would you go back to 216? Do you know which year the 235 is?

Yeah, I will clean it up and polish it up this winter. Well if the speed parts fit the 235 I probably wouldn't go back. All I know so far is that the Offenhauser valve cover wouldn't fit because it is mounted differently. I guess the cam wouldn't fit either... I have heard that the intake and exhaust manifolds bolt on but that the ports are a different size, guess I have to check it out soon. I have no clue yet what year the 235 is.

    Congrats Sondre!

I had 4 inch blocks (actually 100mm)in my '51 with original rearend, I think that was quite maximum, specially in gravel road.

Thanks Janne, 4 inches sounds good. What Chevy was this, do you have any pics of it with 4 inch blocks?
