I've seen people ohh and ahh over much worse starts on here. Gotta give them credit, they sure got their money out of that shoebox donor. If you tidy up all the lose wire, I bet you could wire it twice with whats draped around it.

  3. Anyone who thinks this should be saved obviously enjoyed the 70's way to much!

all you "leave it alone guys" are gonna be mad! sorry, it was too ugly to be left alone

here it is with most of the ugly gone! almost there!

    IMG_6220.jpg
anyone want to come get the shoebox subframe you can have it:)

    IMG_6223.jpg

heres the motor and trans, this thing will go in the scrap pile too

    IMG_6225.jpg
got all the ugle cleaned off, i should have taken a pic but there were a couple layers here!
    IMG_6228.jpg IMG_6229.jpg IMG_6230.jpg
firewall gone too, looks way better
    IMG_6230.jpg
i had some donor rails for the front section, i was given these 10 years ago, i was thinking ahead! lol

    IMG_6232.jpg
i made a template of the rail where i cut and traced it over on the other rail it lined up pretty darn good and seems to measure pretty close, i just tack welded it so i can adjust once i have enought structure and integrity in the front rails to measure and square things up
    IMG_6233.jpg
    IMG_6235.jpg IMG_6238.jpg
the other side went nice too, some preliminary measuring and temp tack welds actaully got it within 1/8 square and 1/8 level to each other, i need to get the back up on jack stands and leveled then i work on getting these true and square to each other and the ground
    IMG_6239.jpg IMG_6241.jpg
here it is looking more normal

So it's a little "rough"- beat my dog or mess with my wife, but DON'T call my car UGLY!
Body looks pretty freakin' nice, and I love the slicks! Good score.

Well Titus...being a contributor to the Homogenized thread I would have said no to myself on posting that in that thread. It lacked safety and style bigtime (not worthy). Looks like a learn welding experiment gone real bad. Ya done good and thanks for sharing.

Mike I really like your new build;). That 3 Window builder obviously showed everyone it could be done......imagine if they had became a songwriter.

o_O Good grief, I wish you guys would stop with the "original" bullshit. Just because someone built some old ugly cobbled together abortion, an early Rat Rod piece of crap does not mean the anyone should "preserve" it.
Saving the good parts and sending the rest to the scrap dealer is what's proper.
History, give us a break. :p

Ahhh, Titus. Thank you for the fast-forward movie! But...Why do the rails look so long?
    Hope that 3 window body wasn't shortened...

Nice find indeed. I'm with others here, it had no value or lost value when the 60's factory muscle cars were new. I can only imagine a couple guys cobbling this together to see what the heck would come out of it. Their work probably did save the thing from being drug out to the back 40 to rust away in a ditch.

  22. Nice improvement man.

  23. I kinda liked the shoe box firewall, goes with the recycle theme.

Frame looks better already. If the price is right, I'd be interested in the heads, intake, and oil filter housing off of the old motor.

You know how you can tell east coast from west coast rods with just a glance? Well, I guess you can spot the midwest rod by just looking for the coupe body mashed onto shoebox running gear. DSC00281.JPG
