claims to be the only National winning restored 57 Chevy stocker in existence http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-B...b8efd444:g:BikAAOSwLnBX6Vnu&item=131951744068
Off the top of my head, I think you are referring to the SS 454 70 rag top Chevelle super stock car. I went through one of the big auction houses, Barrett Jackson I think, for an astronomical price.
409...dual quads...and an exhaust note that will make your pants get a little tighter...can't wait to see this one make some passes next year
Well my vette buddies will have to wait a bit more for the Earl Wade history as in looking at material on him I found this horde of Ford Stock and super stock photos and they are my reverse kryponite I can't resist them LOL. More today too in the S/S FX thread too.
Drag racing has always been an interesting since some guy's had parts that the rest of the guy's never had access to. For years many of the teams that were connected to the major car companies who won over and over again I thought as a 14 year old kid were just better then the other competitors but once I realized they were using parts that in many cases were not available a your local car dealerships I kind of realized that it was not a level playing field. I used to really enjoy match racing back in the 60's and I always thought it was real drag racing until I learned that the promoters who ran the match races determined who would win which best out of three races. Guy's who wanted to match race only had so many big time promoters around the country running the show so either you raced in their shows or you did not race !!!! The choice was made very clear to anyone who wanted to be part of the show. I still loved drag racing but I did not like the way the game was played and some racers had the deck stacked against them with little chance of being someone connected to parts that were not available to everyone else. Just my opinion Jimbo
Hey Jim its been great talking and dealing with you. your discussion about match racing brought back some great memories. they had a load of them at ATCO. believe it or not i was actuality part of one my, cousin use to run a 64 Plymouth with the 426 wedge. one day he called and said that ATCO called him and wanted a match race between him and a local favorite guy with a GTO. we couldn't believe what they wanted to do. it was on a Wednesday night. naturally we accepted my cousin went out and bought the 4 of us shirts that were purple and white (the 64s colors) naturally they were too small (skin on baloney). it was a best out of 3 with Rosin and all ! what was amazing was the amount of money being bet in the stands A REALLY FUN NIGHT
Gene: Your car looks really great and you did another first class job of building it. Atco as been a great place for drag racing it seems like forever. Hope you are feeling well and doing better. Jim
Gene: You did a great job with posting all the pictures. I forgot to ask you have you started building the new garage yet? Jim
