Ok the engine pictured has the small intake used on the 265 -283 & 250 HP 327s. the carb pictured is a carter WCFB. the 4GC Rochester also fits that intake. I found a 4 GC from a olds that had larger secondaries comparable to a carter AFB. I ground out the manifold to where it would work. & port matched the intake to the heads. It made a lot of difference. And it was never found out.
Dick Sperry worked as a line mechanic at the dealership where I work, though he left maybe a couple of years before I started there. Sperry and Hickernell raced a '68 or '69 Malibu, IIRC, in the late '70s at Wayne Trail Dragway near Van Wert, Ohio. Wish I'd gotten to see this '57 wagon go down the track!
