    Front isn't really too high just a funky camera angle, not a big fan of white walls so it may get a little more tire rake at some point. Rick, I've been thinking it would make a nice modified haha.

    Is that the new version of "nice dunebug"

    And if it's TOO shiney, it's just because you wash it to much and drive it to little!!!!

    Go drive it ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1430915453.975808.jpg

    Sorry for the OT car, but the point is valid;
    There was a Volvo commercial series, where I stole the pic, stating: Drive it like you hate it, it's cheaper then a psychiatrist.

    So drive the wheels of that thing, and have fun. The paint will become second to the gigantic solar flare from your teeth when driving that thing everywhere and anywhere!

    And post more pics!!!!!!

  10. Personally,I love it and think it's a great period looking hot rod!

    The roadster has a real old school look and not built to be a show car,,is the top a little quirky,sure it is but it suits the car. HRP

    dont you dare (paint it).....all I'd do is ditch the top and cruise it........and well maybe a 283.......But if you do go flat black, dont forget the red wheels, mexican blanket seat and a trip to VLV with a tattoo covered pin-up girl, grease in your hair, cigarettes in your sleeve and an ice cold PBR......LOL

  12. It could easily be driven as is. I'll agree with a little out of the grill, a little lower in the front, remove or chop the top and windshield and lay the WS back some. A good looking car as is.. Personally, I'm ready for shiny for a change! Tim

    I like it as-is...Not all hotrods were primered back in the day... some actually had paint. Believe it or not!

    Haha, if I knew all it took was some flat black to get a tattoo covered pin-up girl I'd have ordered a case a long time ago. Here's some more pics. from a better angle. The rake is pretty good and grille may be just a fraction high but not bad.

    Thanks HRP, an ole boy in Oklahoma built it following the "How to build a traditional hot rod" book and he did a really nice job. It sounds as good as it looks too.

    Great looking Roadster!
    Personally, I'd take out some of the blue and toughen it up a bit;

    Chop the top 3"
    Drop the front
    semi black or chrome the front suspension components;bones, axle, spring, shocks, etc (too much blue)
    Paint the engine blue or black (red with blue is a clash)
    Blackwalls and paint the wheels black.
    Black top
    Chrome spreader bar, headlight bar and maybe headlights

    Photoshop of the above anyone?

    I live in upstate N.Y. fondly refered to as the asshole of the world by my old golf partner, it can be 80 degrees one minute and snowing the next.

    That looks like Jess Harwoods old car...I bought my 3w body from him years ago and he showed me this roadster in his barn.

    HA! I started this before you posted...pretty close. Honestly, the car is a pretty cool little hot rod, it doesnt NEED anything really. But it can be improved on (but thats all personal opinion). Here is a crude photoshop, with chopped windshield, chopped top, lowered suspension, black engine block and black wishbones.

    Cute as a bug's ear! Just drive it, the "shiny" will "ride up with wear". Says ol' school to me when I look at the pics and back in the day we'd have killed for a paint job like that. Kids in my class ('60)were spraybombing their rides and feeling like Earl Scheib. Here's a factoid I remember, 22 Pep Boys spray cans to make a '50 Ford convertible black. That's what happens when you get old, the synapses in your brain fire randomly revealing minutia you have forgotten.

  25. I agree with the ideas of changing the suspension color a little. Black or a silver. Maybe a little chrome thrown in. Wheel color and tire change and it's perfect. Maybe paint the engine black although it doesn't bother me much. It's really bitchin' the way it is but I understand personalizing it a little.

    Very nice car. How do you put the top down or take it off? IS it hard to do?

  28. Personally if it were my car I would grab the rattle can and do my absolute best to fuck up a good paint job. :eek: :D

    Really nice looking car I may try and personalize it a little bit but I don't see much that I would change.
