Event Coverage N.E. Dragway Hot Rod Reunion PICTURES

Thanks to everyone for the fantastic pics!

 

Here's a picture of Dave Hales's original race car, our coupe and our friend Bruce Caswell's sedan at the reunion.

 

Show car count was down...BUT it was threatening to rain...day before weather reports predicted it AND it did arrive about 4:30 with everyone scattereing and loaded up. Good to see my 30+ year old gold leaf lettering on Good Vibrations Anglia still looking sharp. Dover Guys Did Good...Our Billy Masiello won the 7.5 class with his front motor small block rail.... he started out at Dover in the 60's..East Coast Gassers out in force-a yearly fixture at our Dover Drag Strip Nostalgia drags as is the NETO gang . Sorry I missed the ME. GASSER crew .I flew up from N.C. just to connect with everybody...the smell of Nitro was worth the trip. Bucksnort ...got any shots of ol V-Bobs car?

Dave Hales wanted me to tell you thank you very much for posting pictures of Old 136 Baron.

 

Beezer tells that when they would go to Indy they got called "a bunch of Indians down from Canada". So, why not dress the part and dance around on the starting line? For obvious reasons it became "the anti-rain dance". Another example of one "character" floating to the surface in a sea of characters. Here is a pic of his Willys , which DragList says was first in the 7s in the early days of nostalgia racing. Wayne Hedges is helping with the Donovan at Denver. Thanks to Vince Dufour for pic.

 

Wow, I havent seen that car in 25 years. I think I saw it last at E-Town back around '88. I recall Bob being there dressed up and dancing on the starting line.
Funny how much this show reminds me of the old nostalgia meets as E-Town back when the NDRA ran the event. Even seeing the 134 coupe again for the first time since then.

 

Boy I am with you, Joe, those were good times at E-Town back then. I have a great pic of SanGiovanni's rail, Overfelt's altered, our altered, Reg Bernier's rail, all flathead powered in the pits together there back then. Our old altered and Overfelt's were at the Reunion, Ronnie and Reg having retired their FEDs.

 

Haha just saw this, I might have a couple more pics of Bob from Denver, I remember seeing the raindance, hanging out with him was a great time!

There is a rumor that persists that the HRR was a two year only committment from NHRA for New England. Anybody know if the 2015 edition is being planned? I emailed track but haven't got an answer yet.

 

Anyone have any information about this car? How did it run, owner, etc.?

 

Hi John. I heard from a pretty reliable source that they are signed on for two more years. Great news, for sure.

 

Never saw it run, but passed him and another old race car (Pontiac ? ) on 95 heading south after the event.

 

My boss heard they signed again for next year, not sure if longer as Baron stated but that would make sense.

The red FE Ford didnt run at this event as far as I know. My understanding is the owner is part of the American Hot Rod Foundation which had a display behind the Ford and Pontiac.

 

The NHRA Museum and New England Dragway have signed a two year contract for 2015 and 2016 reunions.
