Bob teaching Austin how to make 1 3/8" aluminum spacers for the body mounts under the seat.

And I just raced home from work to see this........Hell Yeah it was worth it.

I could only get free to go Friday. It was crowded! I imagine it was nuts on Saturday. Anyway, missed you and JOYFLEA this weekend. Hopefully you got out to the Pavilions Saturday night.

Andy, I saw you driving out on Friday. I was too far away to get your attention or say howdy. Blue, I missed both you and your truck! Damn, would have loved to catch you both.

I did see @Jeem @needlouvers @rebarsford and @b-bop though.

Hopefully I can get more done on the T this weekend and give an update.

 

Wow. I'm on vacation this week and I've now read all 46 pages of posts in two days. To be honest, I started following it a while ago, and just came back. It's all inspiring: the build; the transnational camaraderie; the love you have for your family--all of it. Thanks for sharing, and please keep it going.

The build will continue and after the build I'll be posting the adventures with the car for years to come!

Ran to Bob's for a short time today. He's been busy chipping away at projects. The dash and deck lid are painted along with a handful of other small detail parts.

He's been building some bracketry for the radiator, fan and A grill shell so we mocked that up for fun.



We discussed notching the outer lower portion of the shell and lowering it about a 1/2". It probably doesn't look like it, but there is a slight downward slope from the firewall to the grill shell. I think we need to increase that slightly.

Dash looked pretty good out of the booth...


But we cut and buffed it anyway.


You can see the reflection of the heater vent on the left side of the dash, and a fluorescent light on the right side. I'm happy.

What radiator are you running?

 

That's the plan!

It's a 60's Mustang V8 radiator. Lots of guys running that one with a mild small block and an A shell. For $65 I figured I couldn't lose.

Now I need to find someone who can punch an aluminum insert like this...

 

Daddio , I have the dies . Contact me and we will see what we can do . They are the ones that you drill 1/2 hole and they punch the hole and dimples all at once . Have quite a few . Blue

 

Eric, do you have room to get a side-on shot to verify that firewall-to-grill-shell slope? The angle in that shot is a little optical illusion-y. You definitely want to make sure the slope is there lest you run afoul of the HAMB Esthetics Police!

 

Should be easy enough. Gotta be a fab shop close by with chassis punches and a dimple die set
