He said someone stole the car but left the wheels, LOL.

And yes, I know they look yellow (because Victoria keeps telling me) but they're the same creme color as the firewall.

  5. Dang, when I saw that photo I thought, "Oh, instead of stealing the wheels, they stole the car and left the wheels!" Then I scrolled down and....beat me to it!:D

Wish they all were! Of course since they think rust is cool their cars are disappearing on their own.

More progress this afternoon. Driver's side cut and buffed and it looks great.

    1437362572053.jpg

There's still some compound in the corners and there are some detail areas that need to be cleaned up with a smaller buffing pad.

And we gave it the first scratch...
    1437362613738.jpg

Pushing it toward the door to see it in the sun we bumped into an engine stand. Shit.

At least I haven't cut and buffed that side. It'll get fixed this week.

  13. You postponed your trip to the USA Jeremy ?
The paint job is looking absolutely fantastic Eric and will looking stunning with the colour of the wheels. Getting very close now for the fun part of assembling the car for the final time.

Nope, haven't touched that side yet. The smaller spots are buffing compound that splattered after doing the tail light panel.

You can see my fingers pretty well, huh? Including my short index finger that I lost via a bicycle chain at the age of 12!

I really need to find a cool pair of valve covers now. Anyone have a pair of Cal Customs or Corvettes with staggered holes they want to put up for adoption to a good home?

  21. I spy with my little eye a triple carb inlet too. I do like the covers with the word CHEVROLET spelt on them but some nice polished aluminium finned would look excellent too

Yessir whiplash, that's a vintage Offy three deuce intake for three number matching Rochesters. We'll have @kustombrad stripe the Chevrolet script to match the firewall and wheels.

But, she does like shiny stuff so it could end up with polished aluminum covers.

By the way, does anyone know of a So Cal dash insert done in the Fender Guitar pick guard material that I can buy? Looks like this one...

More progress today. These recent updates have been boring as hell, I'm sure, but it's all pretty exciting for us.

Sanded the tulip panel AGAIN today. I think that makes five times now. The clear must be getting thin, but if I go through we'll just reshoot it. Looks much better, but not perfect. May just leave it, may try again. Not sure yet.

With the help (?) of my three boys ages 15, 12 and 11 I got the cowl cut and buffed today. Here's a few pics while the video uploads...

  30. Looking real sharp there young man. I must like the colour scheme as I found a picture I stole off the web in my album of a '28/29 Roadster Pick up that I liked the colour of. 143.jpg
