Great Jimmy! You are going to build yours three times before I get mine going for the first time.

Thanks Jimmy, glad to see there's more happening! coming to chopped this year?

  3. Glenn, I not sure, I would like to head down for Chopped. If I do I will fly down.

  4. I have been working on the revamped chassis.

That looks good, mine is still laying around in piles. I'll get on the frame this fall.

Beautiful. The Spurgin/Giovanine roadster just might be my favorite hot rod of all time. Love where you're headed with this.

Hope to see you there Jimmy, if you happen to be passing through home, let me know, there's a bed if you need.
Glad to see some progress again,
    Cheers

    SNAKES??!!! Where, where??!!

Cool thread, dont know how I missed this. Before I opened it I thought "WTH?? Jimmys building a super gas roadster??"

I REALLY like the idea of scratchbuilding a chassis from channel. I have been contemplating this approach myself, but with a model 40 x-member.

Great stuff Jimmy, those frame rails are just amazing....I soooooo wish I wouldve put more style into the rear kick-up of my frame....have kicked myself repeatedly lately for not. OH, BTW, tomorrow I will post a pic of some taillight housings I am making, maybe you will get an idea from them. (those damn Kaiser dual dots on mine are pricey)

  12. Look behind you, it is only a Python, harmless. :D

I never thought about that. I changed it to "My Spurgin/Giovanine inspired 1925 Chev roadster build thread"

It is a great way really gives the period look without all the rust pitting. Eventually I will do a separate build thread.

Having an original chassis to use as a guide really helped getting the proper look.
I look forward to seeing more updates on your tribute roadster

  13. More progress on the crossmember.

Downright inspirational. Very nice, these pics are really triggering the ol' grey cells, especially when my brain starts blending them with the pics of the chassis in the Kelly Brown/Mumford T...

Here are those housing I was talking about, maybe you can adapt how I built them to suit yours. I have some of those sockets with the little fingers that snap into the holes. I finally found a set of Kaiser housings for the roadster, so in the future when I build a little tear drop trailer for the roadster to pull I will use these so they have the same tail lights.

    Definitely subscribing to this thread.

  23. Thank you all.

You can't go wrong with Kelly Brown Mumford roadster for inspiration.

Thanks Nic! It seems as though I have built this car three times so I am improving & the HAMB is always inspiring me to do better.

Good detail pics :D Nice work I have some twist in sockets I may use to update my chevy taillights. Funny thing since I made the bucket I found 2 good complete lights.

  24. Did some more work on the crossmember.

That looks great. Thanks for the blow by blow pics. They really help. I hope it's strong enough. You don't think that Holden 4 will twist it up do you?

  27. Thanks AHotRod.

Thanks! If I don't post photos right away I get in a habit of not posting.

The 4 cylinder wont twist the chassis, but later on down the track I would like to run a 283 SBC so I am planning ahead and over engineering the chassis.

  28. Been almost a month time to update.

Google search said 4mm = 8 ga. Is that correct? Stout frame. Love your persistence on this thing.

    4mm is 0.160" so about 5/32"?
