Got the shits of the sheetmetal work this weekend and decided to do something just for fun. Don't quite need a gas pedal yet but it was fun to do. I cut apart the original 34 pedal and with the help of a scrap pedal made one that will work with the Y block. I got rid of the tin tube and used a second stand off that holds the spring in place. When I took the tube off the pedal was too loose on the stand offs. So I used a door hinge bushing from a late model car to get rid of the slop. Here it is assembled on the bench. I still have to pin the peddle to the rod. Here it is on the car. I'm running a 2x2 intake and I added a second ball so each carb will have their own rod. Merry Christmas!! Clark
D rod....I had to do something similar for Jim's truck. Had plenty of practice for mine Skid...yeah...just got to find one or make one. DirtyD....yeah I thought the same thing....late production roadster Micky...Thanks Clark
We were playing at Clarks this weekend and now we need to figure on louvers or doors on the hood sides. I'm hoping he goes with the louvers but I know he wont do it the easy way and want to go with the doors.
Jr's right.....I think I'm going with the hood doors. I've stared at them enough and talked myself into it. I wanted to use 33 Chevy's or 34 plymouth's that I have but didn't like them when I mocked it up.....I like these!! Here's a little better pic of the louver side. The louver guys would love me for wanting to put them on an angle. Also got the cowl area reworked for the exhaust cut out. The pipe is just a mock up.
Deffinately like the doors in the hood better than the louvers, fits the build better, little more class! I like the dual balls on the throttle arms, i got one of these things
not that its a vote, but feel those doors compliment the beautiful curves, and whilst I appreciate that they're not going to be the easiest things to craft, I'm sure you've done it once or twice and can make it work. Appreciate the updates, Drewfus
The hood doors are sorta my signature. It started with my 32, then the sport coupe and Bills 32 being the latest. Titus.....I set up Jay fitzhugh's car with one of those. That's were I got the idea to make my own. Clark
The delightful holiday treat that lasts a lifetime? I prefer the doors as well. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
doors look like a nice fit with the sides, like the way they are slanted with grill angle in size, i guess that means smooth deck lid though ?
I just found this thread and WOW, I love the roadster. I would go with the louvers but that is just me. The car will be a hit no matter what you choose. Model 40 roadsters are the best and you fit in them instead of wearing them like a Deuce.
Well I sat down and figured out how much time I have before Detroit and there's no way I can get it done. I only have 26 days I can work on it and more than likely less than that. Sooooo...I guess the car is getting put aside for a while. I've got a backup plan and 'll be starting on it this weekend. Clark
