Thanks for the link. You left the Humble out of In My Opinion, as usual. And, yes, we do realize you are biased.

  5. What Tony said on the '27. The sectioned '32 shell is nice. And it doesn't have a damn boat windshield.

I do still like this thread, in reality they are both good. Entertaining stuff and I love all the pictures.
I edited my post, just for you. :)
As far as being biased goes, that was as much a joke as it was reality. We all have our personal preferences or biases based on what we like.
All hot rods have a certain amount of cool factor even if they aren't what you or I might build.

I agree, that is a very nice 27. And it also runs a Y Block which makes it even better.

Can always count on Paul to get the party started.

Oddly enough, a buddy was considering buying your T a while back but didn't think he had the time to go pick it up. I thought I was being a good bud by saying if he paid my plane ticket I'd be more than happy to drive it home...he wasn't having it haha

Hey Paul, are they velocity stacks coming out of 2 carbiesLOL

Sweet T pickup and it's great to see some Olds motorvation. This alone would make it unusual. What trans were you running? Seems like SBC's and Nailheads were the common engines for T buckets.

Body is back on and doors/deck should be painted any day. Some speed parts for the engine are also waiting in the wings. It's slow going, but it's turning out just the way I'd hoped. smallingarage.jpg

In '59 my brother's friend and I spent a week hitting every wrecking yard we could find from Richmond to San Jose to Stockton looking for '50 Olds 3 speed parts. We finally found a second gear and had a welder in Oakland weld up the damaged teeth on the cluster. It worked fine. There were a lot more wrecking yards back then.

Here's a good one Pat O'Connor shared on FB. He's got a great page, Canadian Hot Rod History, and posts lots of interesting stuff there.

Great photo. Is that a new issue? I can't read the text (too small) but Ivo told me he raced Grabowski only once and he just inched out Norm at the finish line. Tom is very competitive and was very proud of that. He said that both the engines were pretty stock at the time. He didn't say but except for induction I guess.

I think that was an older issue. In most of those LIFE photos from the race, Norm has that same "elbow on the door / relaxed" look about him, even mid-race. Safe to say he didn't take it too seriously haha.

Heres one we are upgrading and repowering, it belonged to my customers Dad. We used the 290hp GM crate motor, Edelbrock triple 2 barrell setup; Th350 and salvaged the Olds rear using a single QA1 coilover shock. I'll fire it up tomorrow and break in the cam, almost ready to go.
The pic of the front end is all old chrome model A springs, axle, split bones, spindles, F1 drums, steering arms etc. Its beautiful. I think it was built in late 60's early 70's

On the other hand Ivo is looking strait ahead focused on winning the race. Maybe if Norm "gave a shit" a little more he might have won.
Another thing Tom mentioned on my visit to his house when he signed the dash on my roadster. He said "Norm and I took different paths" I took it to mean Grabowski took the show car circuit and he Ivo started racing. My friend Ted and I spent a couple of hours with Ivo at his house. Tom is just one of those people with no secrets. He is just out there "No brag just fact". Made us feel welcome in his home as if he had known us for years.

Ok, I was perusing eBay like I do from time to time and came across this.

This car gives me fits. It's owned by our own @A.D.D. and it.fucking.rules.

He's a rad dude, we corresponded a little about the car via PM on here back when he first put it up for sale. I wasn't in any position to make it mine then, and I'm no closer now, which really bums me because I absolutely love the shit out of this T.

I have no personal stake in the sale of this car, so this is merely a free plug for A.D.D and this rad as hell T that NEEDS to end up in the right hands (only wish they were mine).
