Well I'm playing around with a template I found on the custom chronicles site and my L975 bracket. It seems to fit the Mercs window post really well and just has the slightest angle to it. I'm hoping to hear back from accessory land on Monday. If the don't have a L999, maybe they might have the L976. [IMG][IMG][IMG]
    [IMG][IMG]
I tried the L994 bracket and that one sits even leveler. The mounting is wider but that would be ok. Hopefully I can find a passenger side mount. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

To chop,or not to chop. That is the question.

And the back window is in and fits ok. Got alittle more adjustments to do but it's in. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Thats coming right along Keep up the good work Son!!!

  4. Both those brackets look like a pretty good fit and put the shaft pretty level, that's awesome! Glad you got the back window in. Sure has a nice flow to it. I really need you to get busy and finish welding that top and start installing your headliner so I can see how that's going to work out. LOL

That's coming very soon! I'm hoping to strip the dash and seats, back window out this week to try and finish welding this weekend. I'm really curious to see how the headliner fits also!

Well I got a passenger side L995 bracket coming from accessory land. Hopefully it will be here Friday or Saturday. Started making the handles for the spotlights and ended up getting an original drill guide! May have spotlights on the merc this weekend![IMG]

  9. Those handles are looking cool! The other plastic pieces on your handles look in pretty good shape. There is a guy working on limited runs of repopping them though, if you need some.

I just got another parts handle with the plastic. Going to paint them green and and sand off the strips and the Appleton writing. So they will be green with ivory strips. I think they will look okay.

I'm doing some test fitting some of the upholstery while disassembling the car. The rear carpet is forming well with the help of some steam and some weights. [IMG][IMG]
And the fire wall pad seems to fit![IMG][IMG][IMG]

I got the heater box and vents all repainted hammer tone pewter. Looks fairly original.

I was able to get some welding done today around the windshield post and the gap in the door jam. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
Hopefully I can get everything ground down this week and everything cut to weld up the passenger side next weekend.

Damn fine work on those Appleton handles! This car is right on the money, period-wise.

Got the windshield cut today and got the gasket cut down to fit. [IMG][IMG]
I think I might cut down the center bar trim tomorrow night and see how that fits.

Have you thought about painting the heater pieces the ivory color on your dash so it blends with firewall pad?

I'm going for the, could have been built in the early 50's. So with that in mind, the car would have only been a few years old and they probably would have repainted the heater since it was new. I'm pretty sure that is how the Sam barris merc is.

Just pick up the hood safety latch for the merc. It appears to be the same as the Hirohata's latch. A 39 ford standard hood safety latch. [IMG][IMG]
