I'm not sure if this has been posted (looked on the search function) but here is some amazing, sharp focus "background" B&W footage shot in LA in the 40's. Great cars, awesome street scenes, pure nostalgia!

I spotted two old hotrod roadsters if you look carefully. One highboy Model A at about 1:48 and another full fendered A I think a little later. Time Warp!

Didja notice how many late model cars had skirts? All of them were two door sedans too... Cool footage. Being a huge fan of film noir movies, most of those streets were kind of familiar, too.

  13. That can't be L A. No grafitti!! The sad thing is seeing the rails from one of the best mass transit systems in the country that were soon to be ripped up.

I'll have to show this to Mom. She was an 18 year old girl working in L.A City Hall in 1948. You can see the building in this film. Maybe that was her in the cross walk?:)

LA was one beautiful city then. I lived there in the early 60s & it was still then. Cities have undergone so many changes since then & LA more than most. Wonderful video & thanks for posting.

Really great to watch. I grew up and live in LA, (37 years old). The streets in the film are so familiar, yet so so different.

It was also so gratifying to see two roadster hot rod in plain sight in this one short film. It proves how popular they were with the youths.

If you have a Playstation 3, get LA Noire --you get to drive those streets yourself.

  21. Im reading the book L.A. Noir right now and it is unreal! It is what the game was based on.

If you look quickly when the roadster goes by at 1:49 you can see them looking at another roadster parked on the street to their right.
