Mines close it's an early 57 S-100. It's alot like an old girlfriend, fat and ugly, but you grin when your inside her.

This body style of Binders is way underrated, they are beautiful trucks that lurk in the shadows of the Fords & Chevys.

The L,R and S designates the body style and year (roughly) of manufacture. Except for door glass and rearglass the trucks were virtually unchanged from the firewall back from 50to early57. The front fenders, hood and grill being the difference up front. Are you refering to a govenor? If so, I'm unaware of any.

And if you didn't already know, the "100", "110", "120" etc denotes the wheelbase. There's some other threads here on these old IHC's. Just do some searching and you'll find some great photos and good ideas. There's 2 of them less than a mile from me, but they are pretty rough and I don't have the time for them.

100, 110, 120 do not denote wheelbase, its the load rating. 100 is a light 1/2 ton, 110 is a heavy 1/2 ton, 120 3/4 ton, 130 1-ton and so on. The Short beds are 115" wheelbases and the long bed 100,110,120's are 127" wheelbases. All the 100 -120's where offered in either wheelbase.

That would have been an option on the 1 ton and under vehicles. Most wouldn't have had it. My father had a 57 S120 farm service pickup-no governor. When I was 15 I had a 56 S120 4X4 that also had no governor. I've looked under the hood of many 100-130s-no governors.

Off the top of my head, L started in 50, R in 52, and S in late 55. Could be corrected.

IH seemed to put the spare tire indent on whichever side they felt like, although I think more of them are on the passenger side. I've seen trucks with the spare tire on both sides (separate trucks - although it wouldn't surprise me to find a truck with a spare on both sides.)

Here's one near me. Not sure if its L,R,or S. The last one is my B112. After the A series. The A series started in late '57. It's the anniversary model. Some where gold and white with a very unique bed that is hard to find. They had really cool looking lines that was never matched by any maker.

Binder Planet is also a good source, also Fred Crimson's book about IH history.

I thought the 100s were short wheelbase, anyway the research I did on my 54 R-100 it said they were short. The spare tire seems to have been left side on the 100-110 and right side on the 120s but I'm sure variations exist.

Luckily it never had one on either side, the spare stored under the bed in a rack.

Im becoming an avid IH fan. Actually have a travelall on its way here now, stuck in Utah at the moment coming from Washington. Has anyone seen the nice truck on Ebay right now? I also have a '63 Scout 80 that my grandpappy bought new

I have a 120 in the junkyard behind my property. Its a 4x4 with a tow boom on the back, i've been trying to get the owner to part with it for years. I'd get pics but there is about 2 foot of snow on it right now.

You can get these from long bed trucks since those had enough room to mount a spare on either side without an recess in the fender. I have a spare drivers side fender with no indent BTW.

These trucks have unusually narrow frames (28" rail to rail) This makes it challenging to swap to a modern frame without really having to cut up the sheet metal.
