While at shows I look around, love to see some peoples hard work and beautiful roadsters, coupes and sedans and pickups.
If I had a dollar for every car at the shows down here I have seen with a 350/350 under the hood with the same intake, valve covers, and carb, I could buy a complete car done by some big shop and still have gas money. Now the LS motor seems to be the new bandwagon motor.

So show me what your running and tell why you picked it. No lame power plants, and if you got a SBC that looks traditional or cool show it off.

  2. LOL my SBC is pretty plane jane and I picked it because I had it. I don't run a T350 I scattered a TCI 350 with this engine so now I run a 400. I'll PM you a pick of I can find one no reason to clutter up the thread. ;)

When I got around to the coupe I wanted something a) old school and b) different. The nailhead fit the bill and as I already had a junker '55 Roadmaster with a 322 it was a no brainer.

Several vintage add-ons later (Spalding, SP Tops, Eelcos etc) we had the perfect combo.

I put a hood on my roadster (avatar photo) to cover up the lame 347 SBF. It has propelled the car to a lame 12.09/115mph in the 1/4 mile.

  9. Yea those Fords are sissy motors. :D :D :D

Something about the little Ford that makes it difficult for a hot rod mill is that these days they are hard to dress. The baby MOPAR seems to have the same problem. You can actually make an SBC passable, but it is work to find just the right stuff for the Ford.

@Malcolm BTW I thought you have the hood just as part of your build, I wouldn't hide the little Ford at all. Nothing to be ashamed of, never be ashamed of fast my young friend.

Show us something worth looking at. I bet you can race that thing a week straight without even opening the hood.

  14. @porknbeaner It's an edelbrock Performer RPM that I drilled for the fill tube, and a PCV valve behind the carb. I'd like 3 deuces for this motor someday, but I want to get it all dialed in with the single 4 before changing to multiple carbs.

studies have shown a direct correlation between the height of your pompadour and hatred of the small block Chevrolet.

I'm partial to Y-blocks. Have a 292 in my '28 PU and a 312 in my '57 wagon. But I also have a 302 SBF in a '29 coupe and a 327 SBC in a 32 coupe. But the 327 is getting a some "dressing up" this winter so it'll be a little less lame this summer.

I have observed that not everyone is in the same place as far as time, talent, money or interests. As a result I allow them to build that they like, sorry.

image.jpeg image.jpeg A GMC 6 is in my avitar. I seem to go along with dual quads or 4 twos on anything make it better. 298 inch Y-Block Ford. The Purolator air cleaner was part of the Hi-Performance option in 1956. The WCFB's are Mercs.
