Tell us a story. Thats a great car and has to be a great story.
I ran into the typical old guy who was gonna restore it some day the other day. The car is a 56 DeSoto wagon. He had a great sense of humor and was a real cool feller. I told him I'd be back with a couple of friends later. We were gonna sit outside his house and sing till he saw it my way. He invited me in and showed me some pictures of when he was a Barbershop Quartet singer at Disneyland. He said He'd get some of the boys and take us to school. I'm not done yet.
    Tell us your story please.

Very cool, Mr. Cob! Great color combo and body style.

My high school driver ('95-'97) was a '64 XL 390/auto that my dad and I did a bunch of body work to. Really great cars.

I have a good front bumper still sitting around, if you happen to need one.

The Widow said her late husband years ago took the wheel covers off one time when he washed the car. He hung them up on the garage wall to drip dry and left for a short time, when he came back, someone came into the garage and stole the wheel covers right off the wall !

The 73 year old widow always drove the car. Her husband never drove it because he never had a license - ever. When they had kids, they bought a 4 door to haul the kids and as the kids grew up and married and then grandkids again always used the 4 door.
The Galaxy was driven less and less and less.

The daughter I met and said she drove the car only twice years ago.
The son in law only drove it once years ago.

The 73 year old widow lady was the only driver 99.99999 % in her ownership.

Like I said the car is legit original miles.

    Cob

Nice find. I love 64's but the parts are so expensive for them, I hope your bumpers are good because they are crazy high.

Nice find of a great car, back in the mid 70s I had two of them, one was a yellow convertible 390 four speed,I paid 90.00 for it, the owner thought the clutch was going bad, adjusted it and it went through 2 years of me giving it hell. Sold it and bought a red 64 fastback with a 390 auto for 300.00, even had Crager mags on it, hose were truly the good old days...

Great find, drove one of these last year in Victoria, Australia. A mate and I test drove it, 390, 3 on the floor, Black with gold interior, guy wanted $25k and the origonal motor was part of the deal. Price was not negotiable so owner still has it.

  28. You keep talking about the sweet 73 year old lady. Well she was only 25 when they got that car ... do you think she drove it like a 73 year old lady back then? :D

Cool find, should be a fun one!

At 25 and single, possibly a 1/4 mile at a time but highly doubtful. ;)

BTW - they didn't buy that car - SHE DID herself in 64.
She got married in 65 a year later.

Very cool car. I had a couple of big paper routes from '64 to maybe '67,and knew all the cars on my route.Lots of 62s,63s,63 1/2s,64s.. All the Galaxie were owned by cool guys who never seemed to mind the little dumbass paperboy looking at their cars. These were new cars then, but I remember a couple of them getting modified along the way. Hubcaps came off,and exhaust sounded much better.
None of my dork customers drove Galaxies.

Edit. Didn't really like the 65s when they came out, even though I drove a '65 Fairlane in high school.
