Been collecting all the stuff for a while and thought it would make a good new years resolution to start getting it mocked up. I've never named a car before, but this one might be the "Nutt'n Special"...

    Hi Billy,
If you're going to be around this weekend I'll try and swing by. I've got a couple of questions that you and your car can answer.

I don't think "Nutt'n Special" is a good name for that car. I think it's gonna be plenty special when you get it where you want it to be. Subscribed.

Very nice car. Looks like some interesting parts in your shop too - what sort of 'planes do you work on?

It's good to have friends, and even better to have friends with a Calori roadster! I needed a crank pulley and generator to mock up, so I visited with Billy this afternoon and he loaned me parts from his car. Some guys will give you the shirt off their back, but not many will give you the parts off their cars!
Anyway, it's a good thing I snagged them, because I had no idea the crank pulley extended so far forward. I looks like I need to move the engine mounts at least 1 inch to the rear, maybe an inch and half to get the crank pulley to clear the front crossmember. I guess I also need to leave enough space to get a replacement belt squeezed through.
An added benefit will be getting the pedals in a better position relative to the firewall.
Oh well, back to the grinder. I'm glad they're only tack welds.

I think the engine compartment will look better with the motor scooted back.
They start looking weird when there is a big gab between the motor and fire wall.

Really nice roadster by the way. Keep at it.

    Thanks,
I agree about the gap in the back, but what looks even worse is a big hole in the radiator for the fan to fit through.......

As long as it's a "push" fan it'll be OK :D

Really sharp looking mock up. I love that this car is "Nothing Special," some guys would lose a left testy for a ride like that! :D

Great set-up, can't wait to see more.

That HISSO V8 would look great in the Roadster! Nice project, hope to get something done on my project this weekend.

I would first take the fuse box and coil off the firewall and maybe change the fuel pump
for one without the glass. Then push the engine back as far as possible.
Should give you enough room for the fan

That's exactly what I did. I took the coil and electrical box off the firewall and then realized that the front crossmember had twisted back. It's just pinched into place right now, so I banged it back forward and I think there's going to be plenty of room without having to move the motor any closer to the firewall.

I was at the GNRS yesterday and spent a lot of time looking at the various flathead radiator/fan configurations. I also talked to the guys from H & H, and if necessary, I can get an adaptor that mounts the fan to the generator/alternator and eliminate the front pulley and belt assembly. That will save another couple of inches in the front.

Who do you guys like for radiators? The stock grill height looks good with the 30/31 body,
so I'd think a stock '32 radiator would work without modification, but as expensive as they are, I only want to buy it once!
