This is my 2/3 scale OUTLAW.
It's based on the original built back in the day by Ed Roth.

In Australia we call it a Billycart, in the States I think you say Soapbox Racer.

I joined the forum after reading a thread on large scale models.
What I make are quite often seen as models, but they have the bonus of being large enough to be rolled down hill.

OUTLAW like all of my work is made from mainly wood and PVC pipe along with anything else I can find to make look the part.

The engines are the most fun to build at 2/3 scale you can add a lot of detail.
This is the engine I built for my 13 foot long Rail Dragster.

This is it in the Rail.

I've still got a long way to go on it hopefully I'll get it finished one day.
Times been taken up lately building 2/3 scale motorcycle's.

Anyway I really just wonted to say what a great place H.A.M.B is.
I only joined the other day and I've already gotten a ton of great idea's for things.
The place is an absolute gold mine of information!.

    Cheers
    Trev.

Thanks glad you like the work.
Here's my 1929 Indian Straight Four I've just finished.

It's at 2/3 scale the same as the Outlaw and Dragster.
Although it rolls and steers well I don't think it will ever be put down a hill.
    It's more of a model!.

The picture below gives an idea of the size of the bike.
Although I must say my son in the photo is 6 foot 3.

Here's a list of some of the things that went into making it.
    MDF
    Timber
    PVC pipe

    metal from a cloths horse
    copper pipe
    part of a broom handle
    plastic measuring cup
    throat of a vase
    belt from a vacuum cleaner
handle of an old washing trolley

Excellent craftsmanship and even better eye for ratio and scale. Love them all.
As said above, would like to see some build up pics.

I feel like a hack now!

That is some wild wacky stuff! Good job. Have you ever thought about making a 2/3 scale rod that is an actual running driving car? It would be amazing to see what you could do with a vw square back and a pile of pictures of a 57 nomad for example.

I have a friend down in New Zealand who has gotten into gravity racing recently - he called it something else though , can't remember what (was it trolley racing ?) . He's building a scale vintage formula 500 racer , and wanted my input on some stuff.

Absolutely awesome work , BTW !!

I don't have a lot of build photos of my earlier work.
But there is a ton of the Indian.

The picture below shows the basic shape of the crankcase before it was filled out.

I had great fun making the Splitdorf plugs.
Their just made out of wood but they came up pretty good.

The frame of the Indian was made mostly from a couple of old real-estate signs advertising a house for sell.

Here it's looking a little more complete.
The headlight is a rather modified plastic Ice-Cream bowl.

A couple of my other earlier builds were a T.Model Ford C Cab.

And a 1916 Ariel with sidecar.

They are also built at 2/3 scale.

Thanks for the interest in my work it's appreciated.

Damn, Rep! This is museum quality building , and all from scrap parts and what others might consider trash!
Would I be correct in assuming the details are accurate?
Oh, and whereabouts do you hail from? There's no location in your profile.

    G'day Roger
    Glad you like them mate.
At this point I reckon if I say fairdinkum you'll have my location worked out!.
I'm in Oz the Great Southern Land Down Under.

The detail in my work is as accurate as possible allowing for what it's made from.
Sometimes I need to duck fudge the scale to get things looking right.
But then it's half the fun!.

    Cheers mate.
