I've got a GM 10 bolt rear end in my forever trusty 48 Chev. p/u. I'm trying to figure out just what the rear end is out of. The original builder said he "thought" the axle was frpom an 83 Monte Carlo. No tags on the 10 bolts, it does have 262 gear, (yea it's soft off the line but great mid range and real long legs). Real question is, how do I idetify what axle shafts fit this rear end. Is there a site that gives axle shaft lentghs and splines? Thanks BILL RINALDI

How wide is the rear measured between the wheel mounting surfaces? Does it have control arm bushing mounts on the top of the diff housing and on the bottom outboard ends of the axle tubes or show signs of them being removed? How many bolts on the Differential cover?
