i dont know if these are the fade-a-way paint jobs from gene winfield your looking for, but i believe they are gene winfield's anyway. i know this one isnt a fade-a-way paint job, but i thought i'd throw in a picture of gene chopping a chevy at BTT50's.
Ahhh....fadaways.....love 'em.... Someday when I get a "proper" 60's car, I'm going to attempt to paint a fadaway or fogged paint job..... Here's a few I dig...
Andy Southard had some sort of 6th sense about recording this stuff for history, or maybe it was just that he got to gawk at hot chickies and photograph them, I'm glad he was there, because without him whole volumes would be lost. I'd like to meet him one day, he's someone I admire immensely. There isn't a week that goes by without me looking through those books for ideas and inspiration, my copies are worn out and dog eared.
Andy's book has been in my collection since it came out. I love it! I also heart Larry Watson...if you couldn't tell.
For wild paint on a wild(especially for the '50's) car, I dig the original paint job on Ed Big Daddy Roth's Outlaw.
That car is sweet and that book is a definate must have. I dont think it's in print anymore. I own 2 copies for future refrence and inspiration on my current project
here's another shot of mox millers 58 finished and a crazy corvette andy southards book is a must have. mine is going to need replaced soon it's almost worn out.
Try these out....... Ya just gotta love the time involved...... See if this knocks yer socks off.......
That explains the beard...and the balding spot! How's the Starliner coming along? You gonna have it down south for any of the early GG shows? (Maybe it was already shown indoors up your way?)
awesome... I can remember my father and his friends in the 70's spending eon's on effects, candies, stripes, just going absolutely overboard...trying to out do each other... not much of anything I see these days has quite the same look...I need to go to the dentist now...
Exactly. I'm not really balding, just trying to be more like Larry. The Starliner is going. We're set to get back to busting ass right away. It was supposed to be at GNRS, but we decided not to rush it that much. It will be at the Sac Autorama. Yes, I plan on driving it to Del Mar because I can't get out of it to hit Lone Star. I'm hoping to take it to all of the Pleasanton shows, Puyallup, Indy or Columbus, and Scottsdale.
This thread is the ultimate eye kandy. Just pure talent laying that style of paint down. Ya think more of these Watson style' will be coming out of the woodworks? A lot better to look at then the flat black, flaked-out roof paint jobs that I have seen the past 5-8 years now. I know it is expensive but damn, gotta love it! KNUX!
that southard book got me started back into cars, some I had never seen in color before. I went ahead and bought all the books that he has done, they are all great.
Probably my favorite. [/quote] Dear god..Im drooling...Gotgas posted up this'un...ooohhh man. lol All the others are great to look at too!! (this is just my personal fav) nice nice!! keep em comin! xoxo Niki
