So cool when all of the stars align like that. Sad that the previous owner passed away but, it just goes to show that when you're honest and upfront when a transaction takes place, the chances are you will be the beneficiary of your good deeds down the road.
That's a great story, seems like he sold it to the right guy. You might be a hot rod guy if on your deathbed you give instructions about where your car is to go.
That would've been the 2009 LSRU - I recall meeting Kevin and talking with him for a bit. I'm very happy to hear he was able to buy his old coupe back! Photo I took at the 2009 LSRU, shortly after it was chopped:
I love this car. To the chop and the stance are perfect. If life gets in the way again for Kevin I would love to be able to buy this car. But like Ryan said, the prices keep going up and it gets harder and harder to get back into the market. This is doubly difficult when you are talking about a work of art like Kevin's car is.
That's very nice of the family of the deceased owner to offer it like that, and of that owner to put that in his will.
Very cool! He sent me a PM a few days ago and let me know, as I was talking to him about that car when he sold it and what a good looking car it is! And you are right Ryan. I have been going back and forth on selling my 33 Ford pickup...easy to do but once it's gone...it's gone. Hard to get another one especially financially
That story speaks volumes about both guys actually. Very cool, and glad it worked out this way. Greed usually comes into play somewhere along the way, but obviously not in this case.
What a great story. I love what you said about selling a 33-34 is like moving out of California. Such a great analogy! I would totally feel the same way if I was to sell my 34. I agree. He sold it to the right guy that cared about the car and the person that created it. He knew it had a soul and that the person that put their blood and sweat into it should have a shot at getting it back. Congrats Kevin. Welcome back brother!!
The chop is quite nice. I am one and done on my coupe -- takes a very long time to build them correctly one piece at a time. I am sure glad I did it however.
Cool story! Was great he was able to buy the car back for almost his old selling price. Like others here, I know if I ever sold my 33 [formerly known as a 34] it would be the end of my model 40 ownership days. I'd be back to 40s Pontiacs again.
WOOHOO great story I'm happy for Kevin that's amazing he was able to get the car back . ( I don't know him but I bet he couldn't wait to load the car up and get it home)
Great Karma story! I love the California joke. But there's a catch for some of us here; after finally buying a nice house in So Cal several years ago, I'm now finding it really hard to buy a '34 Ford! The house took that money!
I wish one of my cars would make it back in to my garage in the same sort of fashion.Congratulations Kevin, this proves God is a car guy.
