Event Coverage Hot Rods and Customs at Pebble Beach Car Week..?? What the..??

I covered events from the Tour d' Elegance, the streets of Carmel, auctions, the Concours d' LeMons to the actual event on Sunday. While there were no actual Hot Rod or Custom classes this year at the Concours, the featured coach builder was Chabron; his style and craftsmanship rivals Figoni y Falaschi in my opinion. Delahaye and Ford GT were featured, as was a class for two seat Indy Cars.

This Deuce crashed the official tour of Concours d' Elegance entrants, but with no connection to the actual event. Hot Rod hooligan infiltration at the highest levels!

The Rob Ida Merc was a contestant in the Carmel Concours, held Tuesday on Ocean Avenue...huge attendance to see the classics and this car drew the largest crowds around it (which is why I wasn't able to shoot the whole car!).

 

Apparently, the Toyota crashed the Tour accidentally.

 

The black 3 window is none other than our local star hooligan, Bruce Meyer. Doing his official duty of scaring all the women and children and terrorizing the local denizens as any red blooded hot rodder should do! The Toyota just made a right turn into the wrong world.

 

Now I get it...thanks for that, deucemac.

As I understand it, Bruce is the man responsible for the periodic Rod/custom exhibits at The Concours, right?

 

When's the last time you saw a Birdcage on the street?

A friend was bugging me to go a few weeks back, but alas, not possible. One day.

(BTW, the underhood of the Ida car would be impressive...if it was real.)

 

That's the Larry Roller 3 window. No wonder we love it.

 

We just arrived in Winters, Ca for a week. This will be slow going, really bad WiFi. But a beautiful RV park, fully shaded location. Pleasanton Goodguys next weekend. Landscape shooting in Lassen Volcanic Park next week.

Anybody take pics at the Quail show??? A maroon 40 I had a hand in was there

 

The tariff at the Quail show is a bit over my budget!

 

Me too--was asked to bring my 40 as well--way to pricey for me but the guy took the maroon 40 and had many good comments. I hope so for $700+ or - entry fee for a 6 hr show. Always look forward to your photos. Ptown a little too busy for me.

Daniel, I have your business card...We talked about the purple/blue Chabron/Delahaye. I looked at my notes on your card and wasn't sure which car I shot (I promised to send them)...the maroon one, Right? Was your "T" at GNRS?

The avatar image is the pewter Chapron 145 I was showing at Pebble this year, but the sister car (purple/blue) was the one we were discussing.
