rb, that is quite the collection you have !!!!!!!!! Lots of cool stuff. Thanks for posting all the pictures. deucetruck
Here are a few I may or may not have posted before;some of which I have owned since I was a kid(a LONG time ago).
Picked these up at an Estate sale a week ago way below market value (It was the half off day). They are Wyandotte (All Metal products), the train we think is a Marx but not sure.
they are making new grilles for the green coupe, you can find them on ebay. I have been a toy collector since 1987 and have NEVER seen a Wyandotte toy at any estate sale.
Was looking for estate sales on craigslist and this one popped and in a different city than we were looking. Pictures showed other cars including a big 20's era toy Roadster. Couldn't get there on Friday, was surprised these were still there Saturday. Paid less than $100 for all. Also picked up a Wyandotte sharknose truck at a garage sale. Was atop a fridge. Wasn't for sale until we through a number at them and we went home with it.
good price. I have one just like the red rumble seat coupe, and a matching green one with no rumble seat but it has headlights that work, and the original box. I have 3 or 4 of the little coupe with no grille, some come with a trailer hitch for a tiny camper.
My favorite Hot Rod related toy was the VW version of the Aurora Imposters..........nearly 40 years later I've still got it. Mine isn't quite as nice as the one in the photo but it's close. They also made a Willys and a Pinto.
I wish I had the collection of images I have been posting.. these are mostly images of toys that have come up for auction and found new homes elsewhere. Every time I've been able to purchase a stash of decent old toys from estate at wholesale they don't hang around the shop for long if priced correctly. I gave up collecting stuff years ago...
Picked up this toy version of the Car Craft Dream Rod at the Monroe swap meet Saturday. It was made in Hong Kong, and has a friction motor.
I had the willys in the early 80's, this is the first time I've seen any of them since then. I also had somthing called a Guzzler, that ran on water you put in a little sponge. Hav'nt seen one of those either.
Here is one I picked up the other day.The windshield and top were missing as was the distributor and the battery case was missing parts.I made a windshield and frame(out of Plastruct channel)and truss rods out of brass dowel.Apparently the battery was not used to drive it but to run a motor that made engine sounds and made smoke that came out of the exhaust pipes. That was accomplished by putting a couple of drops of 3-in-1 oil into a hole in the underside. The only name on it was the words Toy State and made in Hong Kong.About 12 inches long with steerable front wheels.Cost was $3.
