love P1800s... i've wanted the same; a 289 stuffed into one. December 1964 issue of Hot Rod magazine had an article from the Holman & Moody P1800 V8 conversion.
(the pics below are not of that car,)

I know it's not a "sports" car (too many seats) but does anyone have pictures of a 544 Volvo with the 215 Buick / 3.5 Rover?

Yes I do. Went to look at it for some time ago, but we couldn't agree on the price, and he lost the title.

I have an old 'glass kit car Healey I picked up a couple of years ago. Looked solid and good, but had no motor, and I planned to drop a drive-train in and drive the wheels off it. A year after I bought it I rolled underneath to have a look and found a totally rubbish botched up mess of a chassis. Since then I have bought a donor car, to get some papers for it, and swapped chassis. it came with a small metric motor, but once it is in the system and all legal and on the road I'm sure a suitable hot rod power-plant will find its way under the hood.

Some of the chassis, that is now in a scrap pile:

Interior, tidy, but loud. all gone now.

Dropping the body onto the new chassis:

Messing round experimenting with home made 'Brooklands screens'. I have some originals, but they are too small for anything. The original kit car screen surround was toast when I got it, so I decided to do something different, Not sure if it will end up working.

    Wow, thanks! :D

Looks like he's pretty far along, I've been considering building one for my pops (if anybody reading this know him, keep it to yourself, I want it to be a surprise).

I have a line on the car, those pictures are going to be handy with layout. thanks. :)

Do you have any more detailed pictures of the trans tunnel, or the floor pan close to the firewall?

Trying to shoehorn a "small case" 700R4 in there.

It came behind the tech 4 or 60° V6 and has a much smaller bellhousing.

Same guts, just fewer clutches, planning on a performance oriented overhaul with standard reinforcements (sun gear shell, servo, improved band and anchor).

All of which is probably unnecessary in a 2K Lb 'ish car with 190 or so horsepower and 280-300 Lb Ft of torque.

Big idea being I already have the trans and engine, otherwise I would try to come up with one of it's electronic descendants and adapt the Rover belhousing to the GM trans (at some point GM made the bellhousing bolt on).

I found a Healy rear end that I may use for a Crosley project cause it has an alum chuck, maybe around 1965..Any one know what the gear ratio could be?

  14. I've been sitting on a 56 MGA for more that 40 years. I'm worried that I'm too old and stiff to get in and out of it now, but I've been doing some thinking about dragging it in the garage. I don't have to worry about purists, drive train has been gone for ever. If I want to stay anywhere near traditional, I think it would have to have a 289 w/4 speed, but then again an overdrive would be nice, too. If I could find a 300 Buick, it could be interesting. (same size as a 215, but cast iron block) I don't want to get too nose heavy and have a "point and stab it" car.
If I don't go the traditional route, I have a Ford/Yamaha SHO. (I do like the idea of the 8000 rpm capability)
I also have 4 Triumph GT-6 bodies. LOL

  23. Been working on this one over the winter. 215 Buick Bugeye.

Electricals are all in, just need to drop in the engine, suss out a radiator, bolt the doors on and slop a coat of paint on it. I'll be driving it out to Bonneville in August.

I love it. That is true hot rodding ingenuity. Not your usual cookie cutter, 1-800, bolt together car. you are to be commended.

I used to have some pics of Danny Kilcup's Healy, where you live you may have seen it run at least once. Someone told me its in a museum some place. I really liked Danny he was good people, and that old Healy was sweet.

Have y'all seen that crazy Swedish guy's Cobra? He's got a blown Mercedes v-12 sticking out of the hood. It's pretty wild. A bit modern probably for here, but still pretty damn cool!
