I built the one in my 34 Chevy from scratch. Pics are on the board.

  4. Hey abone.............you did a great job on that grille. That extra effort makes the difference.

Hey thanks, the only reason I did not buy one was because I couldn't find one to fit mine with the correct chop. This turned out better anyway, and it cost me under a $75 in it was only 15 dollars in material, and the rest was polishing stuff and scotch brite disk :)

Wow !!! I can even say it backwards! Your Grill is cool. 75.00 compared to the 850. they want for the ones someone is building that I found today!! And you do it yourself it means so much more. I used to be a painter body man back in my younger days and I know how it feels to have done things yourself. really! anybody can say they built their car, if they just pay someone else to do it. I would like to learn your art of the aluminum welding. I've never worked with it.

My '46 truck seems feeble by comparison. I made it from an old Cal Custom '65 Mustang grill, shortened to length, then bent with a homemade die to the desired contour.

MoparFinman - there is a small piece of 3mm stainless in the end of each bar. Made it easier in terms of heat control to weld the ends to the inner flange.

Outside the range that the OP specified, but it deserves a look. This is a faux '40 Merc grille, built by Don Dillard of Hwy 99 Hot Rods, to fit into the sectioned grille opening of my '40 Ford. Bars are stainless, eyebrows are aluminum:

Another out of OP range but just to show, not easy, not overly hard, but very, very time consuming..304 SS buffed..
