Well here is a little background information. I have had a 61 Chevy Parkwood wagon for a long time.I ended up not being able to work on it for a long time.

here is a pic of it from a pretty long time ago.

I ended up moving it down to Grandpa's barn to store it for while. Well as we all know life happens. well here we are and it is time for our annual "Guy Trip" to the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green and my son wants us to take something.

Now we are working on the wagon. We have a short time and the wagon is rougher than a cob. We are going to try to get it driving and stopping so we can take it there and ave a little fun.

We put a battery on it and a fuel pump. We need a few fittings for the pump and it should be running. I also ordered new Wheel Cylinders for it and we have already changed out the rest of the brake parts.

the boy is 8 years old and I let him do a lot of the work and I double checked him.

It is a lot rougher than the 1st picture now. I am thinking we may go for the old Super Stock look.

Rootin for ya! I started wrenching on them at about your sons age I am glad my Dad drug an ol 53 chevy 4 door home and told me if I got to run I could have it. I did, my friends and I used to beat around the orange groves in it around my house. Got my first car running at 8 years old. Learned alot from that experience. 46 y/o and still wrenching. Good luck on your trip!

Thanks man, I really appreciate the encouragement. Ethan (my son) said "that was the most fun he had in a long time".

I told him if he was good, and respectful to his mom and I, and kept doing well in school we would work on it a lot more. We are a low budget operation and I usually make extra money at swap meets and selling old magazines on here. hopefully we can make enough along to keep this little project going smoothly.

I am looking foward to it.. I talked to our mechanic at work today and he hooked me up with some fittings so I think we will have enough stiff to finish hooking the fuel line up.

It will probably be Saturday afternoon before we hook it up because I know my daughter will probably have T Ball practice and a game between now and then.

That is the same age I started wrenching in my Uncle Bill's shop and have never stopped. Maybe there is still hope for these youngsters.

He has had me shave his head pretty regularly with a razor. I asked him if he was wearing a "mohawk" this year to bowling green and he said "i have to it is tradition".

When you get to Bowling Green come by our pit (Backyard Guys nostalgia top fuel) and Ethan can try the seat in the race car if he likes.

here is kind of the look we are going for right now. it will still have the rust and the primer. we want it to look like it was abandoned (sp) and we found it.
